Lucid dreaming...
    #6457756 -

How about we share experiences of lucid dreams, who here has had them?

I've just woken from having several, short yet incredible lucid dreams. In my lucidness i am always awe struck at just how realistic it seems, it is just as realistic as "everyday reality", even more so in some ways. After having one it gives me a kind of after glow similar to tripping does. I wake up feeling truley refreshed and have a child like grin on my face

I once had a lucid dream whereby i asked a women in my dreams if there was more to it than meets the eye, if the dream world was some alternative or parallel type dimension. She looked me straight in the eye, like i've never experienced before, she smiled lovingly and quite mischiefesly, said "yes", and slowly walked away. It may not sound like much but i was quite taken aback by this and woke up feeling quite inspired.

I usually find it hard to hold eye contact within a lucid dream, if i try and look at someone in the eye they usually in my experience shy away. Walking through walls is perculiar but quite interesting. If things start going a little wobbly and dark i spin and the dream reappears so to speak. From experience if you ever close your eyes in the dream it is likely that you will awaken, so i try and keep them open, and walk around like that -->

I'm curious as to read other persons experience and tips with lucid dreaming and hey if people read this topic before they goto bed it might give them a reason to become lucid

Edit: oops spelt kind as kid, silly me  :smirk:

I'm a dreamer.

When you dream, your assemblage point (the point at which energy enters your aura) is loosened. This allows you to explore other worlds (internal or external). When you acquire enough dreaming attention, you can consciously visit places... change dreams at will... interact with other dreamers...

I had a lucid dream the other night. It was the first time I ever started controlling my dream. All the other times I would realize I was dreaming but instantly wake up.

I was walking around in a store that I believe was my dream version of wal-mart. I was looking around and I was seeing all my old friends who I miss more than anything in the world. I was also seeing some of my new friends walking around. I was so excited...I can't even describe it. But I said to myself, "There's no way. This is just too good to be true. I must be dreaming." But I really didn't feel like I was dreaming, so I started trying to change the colors of things. I tried changing the color of something that I don't remember and it worked. But I still wasn't convinced. I started walking and came across a purple shirt. I tried to make it change into an organge shirt and sure enough, it did.

By now, I was even more excited than before. I walked around looking for more of my friends, but when I saw another one, I woke up.

That's my only true lucid dream experience to date. It happened on the night before last, so hopefully it's the start of a whole new generation of dreaming for me.

I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish he'd stay away

Can you elaborate on what you mean by internal or external

Also do you belive then that the people in your lucid dreams are other people lucid dreaming at the same time? Sorry if i've read it wrong

Obviously many of our dreams are constructs of the mind... created mental imagery drawn from memory and personal experience of the individual mind. This is what I mean by internal.

External would be a corroborated construct which more then one mind shares, much like, up to, and including what we call ordinary reality.

Yes, I believe that communication with other dreamers while dreaming is possible. They don't have to be lucid... They can be totally unaware of their dreaming state.

It gets really weird when you wake up and tell the dream to the person lying next to you, only for her to interrupt you midway and finish the story.

"It gets really weird when you wake up and tell the dream to the person lying next to you, only for her to interrupt you midway and finish the story."

LOL. I had that happen to me once... Only to realise that I was actually still dreaming! No wonder she knew the exact contents of my dream!

A few notable things I've done in lucid dreams include:

  • 41 - Had a threesome with Gwen Stefani and another woman whilst flying over a brightly lit city at night.
  • 55 - Entered into and participated in the PC FPS game "Blood", imitating guns using my fingers and voice.
  • 70 - Had an out of body experience (within the dream environment).
  • 107 - Sky-dived out of my bedroom window into clouds below.
  • 124 - Talked (and had sex) with a woman who was also lucid dreaming.
  • 127 - Teamed up with Freddy Krueger to fight the Martian machines from War Of The Worlds by flying over the city and shooting heat-rays from our hands.
  • 135 - Performed self-hypnosis resulting in extreme relaxation.
  • 153 - Had sex with a beautiful winged fearie, who during the sex turned into a firey vampire demon.
  • 164 - Experienced falling asleep whilst fully concious (A "WILD" - a full-on trip in itself).
  • 165 - Had a lucid dream that was so long I became worried that I wouldn't wake up (five false awakenings).
  • 165 - Experienced vivid and complete mushroom flashbacks with vastly increased intensity.
  • 178 - Experienced vastly increased insight into the meaning of words.
  • 187 - Had a discussion with Terrence McKenna whilst we walked around a city.
  • 193 - Grown breasts.
  • 195 - Summoned clones of myself.
  • 205 - Fought enemies with RPG-style magic by performing simple hand gestures (fire, ice, poison orbs, dark magic, rainbow shields, etc.).
  • Various - Encountered, on numerous occasions, the "Chrysanthemum" that Terrence McKenna describes on entering the DMT experience.
  • Various - Admired, on numerous occasion, the realness and detail of the dream environment.

My entire dream journal is here (numbers above refer to the journal entry).

  • I had this occur conciously sometime back in college.

Very cool indeed; thanks for reminding me of the experience!

The stronger your imagination becomes and the more skillful you become in using it, the more the line between imagination and direct experience blurs. Maybe they're one in the same.

i once dreamed about this girl...

    she's a friend of mine in..real life ;P...

i knew it was her, just that her face was different...then, i looked into her eyes and they changed color when she blinked...her eyes kept changing color during the whole dream (we were talking and i was looking to her eyes..), not just full colors, like yellow and green, but also combinations of colors, like green and brown..

so in the end of the dream i said, "you're eyes are changing color!"
she smiled at me me...i woke up...

it was SO real...really psychedelic ;D

Can you have a dream about lucid dreaming or is that impossible? My dream recall has really improved over the last six months or so. I don't keep a journal but I make it a point to go back over my dreams in detail as many times as I can after having them. Anyway, on that note I have had a few dreams where I've become lucid and actually been able to stay in them, not for very long and I generally have to immediately "spin" in order to stay in them and then have to do that several times afterward before it finally stops working. I usually start to fall out of them as interesting thing happen which is kinda disappointing.

Are there any better techniques people know of for staying in dreams? Are there things you can think in order to not constantly have to fight waking up?

well i had an experience once.
it was about 2 years ago .
i had eaten abuot 4.5 grams of shrooms that nite,
i tripped pretty hard and started to feel very sick , it was about 5 hours after my dose. I tried to nap , it was 3 am and it was weird and undescribable. When i closed my eyes every 10 seconds i would have a dream, it felt like it was a long dream but it was just a very short dream, very hard to explain .
i dont even think it was dreams, but it was crazy

Another tip. Avoid emotion in your dream. When you get too excited, scared, nervous... etc... you will wake up.

You want to be disconnected. That is not to say that what happens in dreaming worlds is unimportant. To the contrary, it is very important. Act as a warrior, act with impeccability. Do not go around in your dreams wreaking havoc and pissing everyone off like some kind of dreaming idiot.

I had my first lucid dream only recently... I am eager to have more.

I have recently had many dreams where I was in fictional video games... usually enduring, adventure type games. Last night was an especially vivid one. I need to work on my ability to recognize my dream state, I have heard of things like clocks and lightswitches, but these objects seldom appear in my dreams.

From last night I remember flying through treetops at a full run, dodging branches with great speed and ease. It's amazing that you can do such amazing things in dream reality without the slightest inkling it is not the waking reality.

Haha I found this out all too quickly during my first lucid dream... I had lingering animosity toward characters that had been involved in my dream pre-lucidity. So I went to torment them . This is not the type of behaviour my waking OR dream self would engage in... it was a strange mindset created by the convergence.

I would not say it is 'emotion' in general that must be avoided, however. As I was explaining my lucidity to other dream characters, I was certainly affected in a profound, emotionally stirring manner, it was a very "deep" emotion however... having large attachment to awareness and the nature of reality.

Perhaps it is "shallow" emotions which must be avoided... ones which cling to the misconception of self, and trigger simple animal defense mechanisms.
