Full of a cold !!!

What is it about this time of year that always lands me with a fuckin awful cold ?
I swear every year for as long as i can remember i end up ill around Christmas time.

My throat is killing !,, i decided to get drunk last night which seemed like a good idea at the time. Now i'm laid in bed feeling rougher than Britney spears.
No shit just shoot me now, i think that's the kind thing to do !.

So yeah, what is it about this season the makes everyone fall ill ?, and does anyone have know anything natural i can take for my throat ?.

If I'm not mistaken the cold virus replicates better in colder conditions, and that is why people get sick with colds around this time. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure,, i thought it replicated within the body meaning temperature shouldn't make a difference. I really don't have a clue though.

It's probably because your immune system is a pussy, and you don't eat enough fruits and vegetables or drink enough water.

It's simply because HUMANS are around each other more... When it's cold, everyone stays inside more than in the summer. The increased contact means more spreading of germs. It has nothing to do with temperature, directly.

I also feel that schools are incubators for germs, and this is prime time school time. No school in summer!

I still think its due to pussy immune systems.
I don't really ever get sick.

Last time I can remember having a cold is about 10 years ago.

I rarely get sick... You are either naturally resistant, or clean. :smile:

My mom has brain cancer, and on chemo she can't get sick. Since that came about, I've been more aware of germ "hotspots" and I routinley wash my hands now.

It's all in the hands... They are the only part of your body that touches EVERYTHING, and then touches your eyes, mouth and other points of entry for nasty germs. If people around you cover their mouths when sneezing/coughing and you wash your hands enough, you have nothing to worry about.

It's not magic... there is cause and effect. Eliminate or reduce the cause, and the effect goes away. :smile:

Right, I agree with the germ thing.. but what I'm referring to is that some germs are unavoidable.. I'd rather be able to take the germs and have my body fight them off naturally and become stronger because of it than disinfect myself and everything around me all the time.

I don't take antibiotics or cold medication or anything like that.

Anyway, you want my advice.. the best way to get rid of a cold is to not get it in the first place.
Prevention is ten thousands times better than treatment, any day of the week.

- eat a lot of fruit
- drink a lot of water
- eat a lot of vegetables
- exercise
- get sunshine, or at least take vitamin D

You'd basically be superman

Neither do I... I guess it's a combo. But I'm 32, and I think my immune system has had enough time to build strength. I used to get the same sinus infection evry year, go to the docs and clear it up in a week. One year, I siad fuck it and let it take it's course. 3 weeks of annoyance and I lost my voice, but the infection never returned.

And I'm not OCD with the antibac stuff... Some people are crazy extreme. I use it mainly after using shopping carts or being around little kids. Children are plague carriers as far as I am concerned... They pick up EVERYTHING from all their disgusting friends. :smile:

I know on or two people that never get ill,, even when everyone around them is. Their diet isn't much better than mine..
In fact their diet is exactly the same as the other people in their familys who catch colds often, so that immune strength is probably a lucky individual thing.

I thought most people had to catch a bug to become immune to it,, which is the problem with viruses because they're always mutating and changing.

I have a flu immunization every year because my mum has emphysema but i still get colds,, i might try echinacea next year and see if that helps.

I feel abit better today anyway,,  :smile:

Ive learnt something from this thread, i never thought of people being closer together as a cause but that makes sense.

lol,, kinda a random question. Yeah Christmas does stress me out even though i enjoy it, i think it has that effect on alot of people.

Are you thinking heightened stress = lower immune system ?

That is exactly what I am thinking. I have noticed over the years that is how it works on me. Whenever I go through a stressful situation it seems like I always seem to come down with a cold or something.

mega dose vitamin c tablets, about 5000mg and drink alot of hot water to warm the throat
