is my syringe viable?

its been sitting in a dark closet still inside the ziplock it came in. if temp is a factor its a steady 75-78f in there. any help would be appreciated! thanks!

I think it's probably fine.  As long as it's been in the dark and in a ziplock.  Those temperatures won't hurt your spores.  But truthfully, there's only one way to find out :wink:.

ive had syrs sitten in a sock drawer for like a few months [almost a year] and they wernt in a bag and had em stay good :cool:

absolutely... assuming it was viable when you recieved it, I had some that were
stored in a shed for about 3 years, they had temp fluctuations from 10F to 105F
and all were viable except the B+ which only grew green mold

This question really annoys me. I don't mean to single you out Itsdatpurp, I mean this sort of question in general. How can any of us know whether or not a particular syringe is viable? The only way to really know is the test it. I wouldn't throw out a syringe 10 years old without testing it. A quick search will give you an answer that spores in distilled water inside a syringe will last a very long time.

It's like the same as asking if pasteurized poo is still good to use or sterilized jars...you gotta try some things for yourself.

I found a syringe in the box it came in in a drawer a while back,It is dated Nov 1991 :hehehe:  There isn't much left in it and I am just going to keep it as a mycology relic :lol:  maybe I should shoot it into some honey water and see what transpires :strokebeard:

O but to answer your question I agree with etam,there is really only one way to find out so go and make some test jars and let us know how it goes,syringes do last for a long time and I bet they are fine
