I tried that and the jars would not grow, but I think I did let a syringe go for a month like that and it wasn't a problem.

In summary, 1 month = ok, 6 months = bad. You can figure it out from there.

While in my trip to WA last fall, I visited a friend who had about 9 syringes from me, of about 5 different strains. He had ordered these from me the previous year. I guestimated they were a good 14 months old.
He also had one syringe from PF that was about 18 months old. All of the syringes germinated fine without any problems.

He stored them in a ziplock bag in a dark drawer in the cool basement all that time.

If your ging to keep them in the same fridge with food, I recommend keeping them stored in several ziplock bags so any unwanted nasties dont have access to them.
