he doesn't want to seem vulnerable, like he has to depend on someone or something, but he has to depend on belittling someone else because he has no self-esteem. sometimes I refer to it as overcompensating for insecurity.

Seriously though, most PEOPLE are vulnerable in some way or another, men just try harder to hide it than women (perhaps because they are MORE vulnerable?).

It has little to do with gender other than the contradictory stereotypes implied within the culture.  Once you decide that all that is a heap of bullshit then it's up to the individual person.

All gross generalizations are dumb stupidly meaningless dumb thingies.  :paranoid:
