Broad generalizations about an entire group of humanity are risky at best, fallacious at worst.  I'd say this one is somewhere in between.

Some women feign independence, while secretly clinging and gold-digging.  Others don't bother to feign independence, and openly cling and gold-dig.  Some reject any form of dependence, and constantly seek to prove that they do not need anyone. Still others really are as independent as humans get--which is to say, not very.

Men and women depend upon other humans to meet their needs for love, acceptance and belonging.  Humans who are isolated tend to get sick and die much sooner than those with loving companions.  We are primates, and need to be touched and loved, we need company sometimes, and sometimes really need to be alone.

This is true whether you are an "inny" or an "outie."

(P.S.  I'm a woman, and I deal calmly with vermin, household repairs, financial management, opening jars and walking alone after dark.  I even caught a bat that got into my office, when my male boss and two female co-workers all went into convulsions at first sight. )

Yeah, I was scared of spiders too, to a degree. I wound up having a trip where basically everything erupted into spiders which leapt on me...ALL over me.  I could feel them and everything. I was like oh fuck, no way. It's kinda funny how it happened. Someone made a mock anti-drug poster that said spiders, my anti-drug and posted it on the shroomery.  It had a picture of a really fucked up dude saying "fucking spiders......EVERYWHERE!" or something to that effect. Anyways, that popped into my head one night while I was really, really spun and and then there really were fucking spiders.....EVERYWHERE.  I tried to shake it off, didn't work.....then this voice in my head said "God is LOVE", so I thought the word love over and over again...then I began to feel it. I looked at all of these leaping spiders (I literally couldn't see anything but them, and this is with my eyes open) and I told them I loved them, and felt it, I felt a strong love for these infinite spiders erupt through me and they were washed away in an incredible wash of wave after wave of brilliant & vivid colors. I remember lots of blue, purple...silver, gold, clear; the clear light. Then there were smiling faces swirling all around my room.  A whole lot of other shit went down, but I'll leave it at that.  Ever since that experience my fear of spiders has pretty much vanished.

3 hits of some good L plus some hash. I had an really intense and amazing trip as it was, then smoked the hash 3-4 hours into it. As always happens to me damn near every time I smoke when I trip, I couldn't feel the smoke and was so spun to begin with that I just kept hitting bowl until I finally realized how far gone I really was, and this was when I only came across the stuff everynow and then, so 3 hits alone blew me away. The resulting experience was on the level of 5 hits of stellar LSD. These spiders were the least of it, I saw how good and evil have always been at odds, and will be for quite some time, and I saw all of the different levels of this....and so much more. I died and my body turned to dust which blew away...and I traveled many, many places. Many dark places and many beautiful. It was a highly educational experience, and when it began (right after I finished smoking and realized what I had done) there were....beings that contacted me and took me on this.......journey. I've seen these beings a lot and still have no clue what they are. Aliens, angels, demons, spirits.....representations of various parts of my psyche. Who knows.....I sure don't.

It's not easy to deal with at times, but I find it to be very rewarding. My life has been completely changed for the better thanks to experiences like that.

I find that mushrooms are harder to deal with, and often cause the same sort of experience but with a lot less control. LSD steamrolls me sometimes, but I usually have a handle on it, and if I don't I can go with the flow a lot easier than I can with mushrooms.  It's really intriguing  how people react differently to these substances.

that year the movie was arachnaphobia.

Strange how kids can be. When I was little Arachnaphobia was one of my favorite movies. I even had the computer game which consisted of you roaming house to house spraying spiders. You beat the level by finding and killing the "queen", who was a spider on crack you had to fight. Once dead you drive to the next town and start it over with new houses.

I always had a pet turantula growing up. Made for great show-n-tell.
