any thoughts to my weed=no sleep problem??
    #6293012 - 11/17/06 06:00 AM (17 years, 5 months ago)

for almost everyone i know, weed puts people to sleep. with me though, it makes me unable to sleep. i need at the very least 4 or 5 hours to let the weed leave me before i can go to sleep (it is 5 in the morning now, and I'm wide awake(last time i smoked it was probably 12ish). if i go to bed stoned i will get barely any sleep at all. and sometimes this is great for me (party situations, cleaning the apartment late at night etc..), but sometimes its a real hindrance. i cant smoke late at night which can be a hassle. and thoughts or suggestions?

I knew a few people and this happens to them and it happens to me every now and then. sometimes I feel so irrated and uncomfortable it's almost impossible to sleep even though I am very tired. I don't know how this all works, so I just have to work through it and do something else. and there's always herb that puts you to sleep and herb that picks you up and makes you energetic.

Sure: Don't smoke if you plan on going to bed soon! :tongue2:

I experience the same phenomena.  Marijuana seems to induce in me some stimulant effects which keep my mind racing in thought, too fast to allow me the calm necessary for quality sleep.  As I am well aware of this effect, I simply won't smoke it, if for whatever reason I'm planning to go to sleep soon thereafter.  The way I see it, there is little reason to smoke if you're just going to sleep anyway and be rendered unconscious, thereby not being able to bask in the glory of mary jane's magic.

This is the first time ive heard of this,, i wish i had the same problem lol, i'd save loads of money.

I find it difficult to shut my mind off without weed,, if i'm straight headed i itch alot too which makes it impossible to sleep.

I love that last joint before bed,, it's one of the best of the day..

I wish I had your problem. It would be nice to be able to listen to more music high at night without falling asleep.

also, i recommend meditating for a good 30 min before you smoke. this will clear your mind, usually making the high w/o all the racing thoughts. it might be easier to sleep

Yup. Racing thoughts sure don't help when you're trying to fall asleep.

While the last joint before bed is the best, it's nearly pointless. I stop having vivid dreams and wake up a little bit burnt and groggy. There's really no point asides from a little bit of recreational smoke. You hardly get to enjoy the stone... but it sure is bliss.

I stopped smoking before bed and it's doing wonders. And if I do smoke, it's a really small amount.

well like i said i mostly dont mind it, but its times like these when im forcing myself up at 1:30pm because i couldnt sleep well last night. and after a couple hours after smoking i come down a lot but there is still that lingering buzz that i cant go to sleep on. even after 5 hours a lot of the time. and it doesnt matter if im tired too. i can get super tired on weed (though usually not) but still cant sleep.... anyways, i will live. i think its more positive than negative for me. im certainly glad i dont have to smoke to go to sleep but i guess ive never tried it.

That's a line you definitely don't want to cross,, i fell into that habit years ago and now it's almost impossible to break.
It's mostly psychological but ive had some real problems with it.

For me i need to smoke to sleep, even if it's only alittle bit.
But weed fucks up my sleeping pattern aswell.

It's easy to get into the other habit of staying up till the early hours getting smashed.

switch from the sativa to the indica and your focking set

i actually don't know how to tell the difference. but it honestly doesn't matter. whatever i smoke even if its extremely mellow and even if it makes me super tired. its very odd. but its really nice to have a kind of insurance for parties or whatever. i can be guarantied hours of party time without passing out.
