Prozac and other ssri's

Just wondering who here takes ssri's here, and whether they think they work for you, and other experiences plus noticeable synergistic effects amongst other drugs. Also, what ssri's do you take, be it prozac, paxil, zoloft etc, and your history of taking them.
Muchos Gracias

I take Effexor which is a SSRI. Effexor has an "anti-synergistic" effect with shrooms..I don't notice much difference with weed,it might boost it's effects a little.

i've used paxil in the past. at first it made me a zombie... (serotonine syndrome?) i woudlnt react much to nothing... it took away my libido and would mix very bad with alcohol... it sucked ass. i'm not saying it doesnt have terapeutic potential... just feels bad.

I've taken a generic form of Xanax on a small dose of some fresh cubies. It was an obvious change in the effects, especially for such a small amount of fungi. Things were alot more laid back and calm. No crashing on a come down, etc. But, just taking the actually drug by itself, I can only notice a few things. Like the obvious - better mood, little energy pulses in the body...I like pain meds better though.

xanax is alprazolam, which is a benzodiazepine (Anti-axiety/sedative) not an ssri, (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). Unlike ssri's which take serveral weeks of daily doses, benzo's work straight away, and are more of a short term drug, whereas antidepressants work in a more complex way and are very much a long term drug.

OK Last September I visited Amsterdam and shroomed 3 times. I was using Prozac at the time and I had been on it for a good solid 6 months up to that point. I think it lessens the effects of shrooms, most notably in the visuals/hallucinations department. I took 6 grams (I'm a fairly big guy) and still no visuals. I've switched over to a different drug which is not an SSRI or MAOI drug -- I haven't tripped since Amsterdam but plan on it here very soon. I expect I will have a better time with 3 grams dried shrooms now that while on Prozac using 6 grams.

OK I take one paxil at the same time as the mushrooms and find that the effects of the mushrooms hit me faste, harder and last longer. I do not take it on a regular basis only with shrooms. I here that if taken daily it has less of an effect on the trip.

Whaddup. I am prescribed for Zoloft and have been taking it for about 3 months now for depression and anxiety. At first, you will experience some wierd side effects: dry mouth, yawning, insomnia. However, once your body gets used to it, it starts to do its job, which is... making you happy (or at least happier than you were before). The extent of your improvement depends upon a number of factors... dosage, severity of depression/anxiety, physical makeup, etc. I have noticed an improvement, but not a huge one. I am also taking an anti-psychotic called Seroquel to treat symptoms that I had been having (paranoia). The combination of the two drugs has helped me quite a bit, and has restored my mental health to *almost* normal. Ask your doctor about which one you should take. I recommend avoiding Paxil. I found it to be much heavier on the side effects than Zoloft. Well, good luck, and be happy! DRUGS ARE ANSWERS! peace, Rafi

Well, i've been taking prozac for about 2 months now, for depression which runs in my family. Its actually not that severe, but nevertheless i'd rather try antidepressants and see if they help me than not. As you said, ssri's have improved my mood noticeably, but not dramatically. Some side effects i noticed is that i tend to lose control of myself when i drink alcohol more than when i wasnt on ssri's. Also, i'd feel a lot worse mentally the next day than usual. Other than that, i've been having very very weird dreams. Completely surreal and incredibly abstract, but i like that side effect
