For some, music = therapy

so if you could write a song, what would the subject/context of the song be if you were trying to write something spiritual/therapeutic/inspiring?

lyrics? the title of the song? how would the instruments play off of one another to display what you were initially attempting to show?

i've made a few electronic songs. I dont know if they would qualify. But i would want my music to be more meditative, so it would leave your body behind, and let your mind do the walking for a change. I think lyrics are used too frequently in a lot of songs, so i'd keep those to a minimum. Lyrics should be meaningful and should accent the music more-so than the other way around. It lets your mind be YOUR mind, with some interludes from some one else's. rather than music being an overriding force over your mind to make it angry, sad, or think a certain way, i think that it should be a balance of all of them and it should let your mind loose.

A lot of songs are amazing with the way the lyrics are done, and bob dylan is amazing. There are plenty of other exceptions, but if I had to make a song, it would be like that.

Interesting question, certainly a thread that one needs to contemplate for awhile before attempting a reply.

As it has been awhile...

I have a very specific concept of how my musikk would be. It has essentially developed over the years from listening to a variety of different musikk by different artists and by finding pieces of musikk that really resonate with myself, that, for whatever reason, I really dig. I then explore them and observe what is occuring, what is causing it to occur, etc. I thus develop an accumulated sense of how musikk will sound when I create it.

The same thing happens with just guitar playing, which is something that I am more focused upon at the moment (working towards the point where it is my little toy, something I can effortlessly express myself with exactly as intended, in that moment), before I can begin to craft some good songs.

Now, more towards your specific questions. Ultimately, I don't think I could speculate as to the nature of the songs I would create until they were being created. In the spirit of your question, however, I would like to make a song that would be within the context of being more aware and of a more direct experience of reality. The lyrics would not directly address the matter in clear terms, of course, but would be poetic and metaphoric, and would not be overly prominent. Words convey meaning, but tonal atmospherics and sweet textures are more impressive to me. With the right words, its so much sweeter.

I could not begin to describe the specifics of the interaction between the instruments, their timbres and tones, and everything like that. I can hear it, of course. The bass would be both heard and felt, and would be melodic and would have rhythms that are not bound by any traditional sense. The drums would be more of the same, and the amount of interplay between the bass and the drums would have you in a trance.

I couldn't explain the guitarwork at all, but it would be inspired. There would be synth, as well, to shape the overall texture of each moment in a different way.

You'd have to hear it, is all, and I can't wait until I make it so that someone could.

:levitate:

If I should die this very moment
I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you

I love all music.

I've made ambient, psychedelic trance, minimalistic piano, heavy metal, drum and bass, breakbeat, experimental, folk rock, industrial, list goes on and on... But I'm always interested in making more new music.

I feel music allows us to amplify our emotions and make more sense out of them.

Personally, I love composing ambient tracks most of all. I love the open, relaxed atmosphere involved in that. I would also really love to do psychedelic trance but my ability isn't that great yet.

Anyway, I'm not big on lyrics but I wouldn't mind them. I don't have a nice voice and I don't sing well, but I could probably get other people to sing the short, simplistic rhymeless verses that I wrote down.

Totally. I can't write songs well, but i've written some lyrics and written down some guitar stuff that sounded good to me, maybe hoping to use for later when I have it all together. if I could write songs like I wish everything would be alright, no matter how much shit I get into. it really clears my mind saying what I feel.

and I don't know how to answer your question. if I really put thought into I could get some ideas, but i'm not sure. for something inspiring I think you would have to write things in a way which everyone can understand.
