Free keg, courtesy of the police

For this to make sense, you have to realize I work at a beer distributor. I handle kegs all day long.

So, I was working the register yesterday and a few officers walked in carrying some kegs. They apparently had had a golf tourney, and had some kegs for the array of people who were present. They needed a hand getting in one of the kegs, because it was still 99% full.

Well, we asked our boss what we were supposed to do with it, because we'd have to trash it since it had been opened (but they'd kept it in a cooler, so it was still ice cold and perfectly good). The manager told us we could have it for free, just had to pay a deposit. So, I grabbed it up like it was going out of style.

And so, with a house full of minors, we all toasted our first beers to the police department, and then proceded to get abesolutely destroyed. Isn't it ironic, doncha think? I will say it was one of the most enjoyable nights I've had in a long, long time.

damn thats sweet as fuck man... was it pretty easy to get a job there.. i was thinking about applying to budwieser.. the plant is like 2 mins from my house

Well I don't work at a brewery, I work at a distributor. It wasn't too bad though to get the job, I just walked in one day, said hello to the man at the counter, and asked if they were hiring. He pretty much hired me on the spot.

Its a nice job, I get free clothes and stuff on a regular basis from promos, and tossing kegs sucks at first, but once you can handle them you start getting muscular as hell. Handling 200 lb barrels all day does that for you :wink:

yeah i mean.. i live next to the plant.. and the distribution center is like right there to.. my dad tried to apply years back and couldnt get in..

if i was going to be in the state longer id prolly apply.. thatd be a nice job to have

wiggles works in a store that sells all kinds of beers, bottled, canned, cases, sixers.... and sometimes liquor and wines. It's not a factory or shipping facility.

yeah ive heard of a distributor.. well i dont think i have.. not the kind ur talkin about.. the budwieser plant here, has its own distribution center.. but it sounds like its different than the kind wiggles works at

Yeah it varies by state too. In certain states distributors don't even exist, since you can purchase alcohol anywhere. In my state, only liqour stores owned by the state, and beer distributors can sell alcohol (besides bars/liqour licensed places of course).

yeah.. idk ive never seen em.. but according to the noob that makes me a minor.. in ohio.. i mean u can go anywhere to get beer.. grocery stores, gas stations, and drive thrus

Yep, my state has some wacky laws :smile: Its cool though, I understand where the confusion would come from. If you have a distro center around you its probobly Banko, they control most of the NE USA. I doubt it'd be too hard to get a job there too. You'll have to be 18 though, which I think you meet the bill for.

I doubt they'd be quite as liberal with giving away kegs though, but I'm not sure :smile:

Alcohol at drive throughs? That seems like a... fine idea...

oo yeah.. there are tons of em.. just drive thru pick up ur beer and smokes.. u guys dont have anything like that?

its sweet.. most of em are open til around 1 or 2am
