Good Deed Gone Bad......

Okay, I have to tell you all a story...

Since the end of July, there have been "Missing" posters up all over my neighborhood for this Pomeranian Pup.  The family is devastated, as the dog was stolen off it's leash from it's own yard.

Anyway,  Sunday.....

My beau and I were coming home from grocery shopping, and saw this little puppy by our apartment.  I told him to stop the Jeep, because that was the little dog in the pictures!  So I got out, went over and picked up the little dog (who desperately needed a bath and a brushing) and the three of us went back over to the 7-11, grabbed one of the posters, and called it's momma.

Well the lady on the phone was hysterical.  Crying and everything.  She was only a few minutes away, and was on her way.  I felt so good.  I was thinking, "who else would've done this... in this day and age? What a great start to my week."

She arrived at our place about 20 minutes later, still bawling, and so excited that someone had found her dog.  Only, to both our surprise.... it wasn't her dog.  So I had actually stolen some neighborhood pup, by mistake!  I felt like such a tool.  A few minutes later, this young guy comes over, all frantic like, and says, "Oh my God, you found 'Cooper'."  So now, I'm standing there, holding this mangy mutt that runs away at least once daily, this woman is still crying, as she still doesn't have her own dog, and this guy is looking at me like I'm a thief.

Great way to start my week. :shrug:

You did, what you thought, was the right move, at the moment.
Its kind of hard to tell, animals from other ones, if your not the owner. Thats why, I think those implantable micro-chips, in pets
is a killer idea. If I had a child I would probably have one put
in them too. just drag their ass across the scanner :cool:

Yeah, no shit. I should tell my sister to get them implanted in the twins. All that animal implanting goes legal in Calgary on Jan 1/07. Already, animal services has relocated a few strays back to the owners.

I guess that's what I get for trying to do something nice though eh?
That'll learn me.

yeah, implantable microchips are a cool idea. I heard about them on the news. It's a great way to find your loved feline and you don't have to worry about your poster being fronted with the next "lost dog" poster.

How do you figure?
That's like saying every bit of our info should be stored on our computers, and if you used a computer for more than a month, you'd know that it completely futilre because of hackers. If anything, implantable microchips would cause more problems they would solve for kids, etc.

Theres a reason why they don't do this for children. The same goes for widespread use of RF tagging.

Something to do with civil liberties or whatnot... ???

Because the lady who I called, told him the story. I guess to kind of explain me having the dog.  But he was irked that I could've unknowingly given away his dog for the reward.  I dunno. 

Like I would do that.

One time I found this cocker spaniel running around my apartment complex. I took it home and cleaned it up and called the number on the tag. I got someone's pager, so I left my number. A few days later the chick gets back with me and I tell her where I am so she can come get her beloved pet.

So she shows up and I'm calling the dog and she's calling the dog and it won't come out of the bedroom. So finally I go get it and put it down in front of it's owner and prepare to witness the happy reunion.

And the crazy bitch starts yelling at the dog and grabs it by it's collar and she's shaking it and screaming at it and smacking it for running away.

I wanted to tell her to fuck off, but honestly she kinda scared me too.

I STILL feel bad that poor dog ran away to escape this cunt and I was responsible for putting it back in that situation.
