Amanita muscaria in texas?

Hello, I was wandering If anyone can help me. I have recently aquired some amanita muscaria spores, all you need to do is spread them around certain trees and hopefully they will grow. My question is do you think they would be able to grow in south Texas(San Antonio)? I know they grow in northern climates and it is pretty hot down here. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't think so over all. Maybe In cooler weather months.If you don't try it we may never know.

i doubt it, but its worth a shot. considering we haven't had any rain in months down here i would wait until winter, if you want to call it winter in texas.

come fall, you might be able to start those spores in the bastrop area, pine forest. ive found a few there before. they like pine forests.

Thanks you guys for your tips, I guess I will wait till winter and spread them under a pine tree.

Someone I know lives more north in Texas then you guys, somewhere close to dallas, She does outdoor beds of cubes in fall/winter, and early spring...

amanita's we have found around the pines, at the golf courses, or city parks... i'd turn those spores into cultures though, and research the habitat for clues, i notice alot grow around sphagnum and pine...
but, again, it's the so called fall and winter months in

i have had some luck with muscaria here in denver, the heat doesnt mess with them, they just wait untill it rains alot, and pop out all over under the pines. we found one about 2 weeks ago in the foothills that was about 10" across, and it was about 98' outside, and has been a record hot summer out here. it DID rain pretty good for the previous 4 days or so. i would think that you should be ok out there.

..anyways i would recomend putting down spores in mid-fall. you sould see some caps appear around aug-oct the next year depending on how moist it is.
