ahh, the ol' BBQ!
    #5960637 - 08/13/06 09:28 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

What other pubbers are obsessed with the traditional BBQ?

I'm sitting back right now, started cooking my potato and ready to through my steaks on soon.  It is my belief that you truly cannot have a good steak without it being cooked over a barbecue grill.

What kind of cut do you like for your steaks and how you like them?

Any personal cooking tips?

I'm cooking a Maui marinated Eye of Round.  2 of them actually.  *smack*

My friends had a bbq the other night. I brought over a nice new york strip. They had some veggies there so I chopped up some onions, garlic, mushrooms, jalepenos and russet potatos. I put a bunch of olive oil and fresh romemary in there and threw those on the grill (in some special seive-like dish) and threw the steak on the grill as well. I cooked the veggies till they were good and tender and then cooked the steak for just a few minutes. Didn't add anything to the steak. It was the best meal I've had in a while.

mmm sounds good man.

Yeah, I bbq about twice a week. I usually buy a pre marinated steak...these certain ones I buy are top notch. I also get the small golden potatoes and cut them in half. Then I throw them in a hotbag with some onions, mushrooms and salt & pepper. Hotbags are the way to go...perfect for throwing over a campfire too.

I love my steak medium rare - medium

I like the big thick top sirloin cuts, they're equivalent to flay minion but they're bigger, but just as tender, also I like the cook veggie idea also, with some locally made steak sauce that I get is good, beats A-1 hands down

isnt a traditional Bar-B-Que when you slow cook the meat from in-direct heat over a long period of time?

either way i love me some good food cooked out on the grill

My bbq is coal and yea, it usually takes a good 15-20 minutes to cook my steak. I slow cook em.

To the above, mmm, sirloin is good.

I just chowed down...feasted like a king.

can't beat a good ribeye, top sirloin are pretty good too. Fillet mignon is over rated, it doesn't have much flavor unless you wrap a thick slice of bacon around it. I started to make baby backs earlier but I just put them in the fridge to cook tomarrow.

Ever heard of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sause??? its the shit

I love most steaks on the BBQ, also roasted vegetables are key.  I used to heat them, now I like them just as much as steak

The BBQ is one of the greatest inventions ever, I use mine just about every other day. And when its 30 + degrees outside who the hell wants to turn on their oven indoors?
One of my favourites is jalepenos sliced down the center filled with cheese and topped with pepperoni. :drooling:

I like a nice thick T-bone. I'll go and talk to the butcher at the store and have em make a special cut for me. 2" thick. Costs around $15 but it's well worth it. Marinate in whiskey and Montreal steak pepper, then let it cook. It takes longer than usual, but it is so damn tender.

I love barbequeing. No matter the weather I cook out at least twice a week. Gonna be making steak, potatoes, and corn today.

Here you can find some of my opinions on steak.

hehe I remember reading that thread.  Yea, I don't like steak sauce, but I don't mind a good marinade.

Same here though...I always bbq no matter what the weather.  I just had some steak, potatoes and corn last night
