There is nothing I was doing 20 years ago that I can't do today.

Bottomline is your comment about people in Africa being better off than people in America is just ignorance, plain and simple.

My statement was on their spirituality not their living conditions . I even stated that they do not have it well of , in the manner of standard of living . I'm not stupid , I'm not Ignorant you fail to see the spiritual meaning I was talking about .

So wtf does it matter?

Being 'closer to nature' as you put it, isn't going to make you more spiritual.
If you believe that, then separate yourself from society and go live in a cave.

Life would have so much more meaning if we lived in harmony with nature
:whatever:

Your life has as much meaning as you want it to have.
If you believe that you have to 'live in the jungle'
or deprive yourself of worldly things, to be more spiritual
then you have no idea what it means to be spiritual.

A rich person living the high life
can be as spiritual as a Tibetan monk.
It is all in how you choose to live your life.
Not how much material things you do or don't have.

Don't be bogged down by your past
Don't be afraid of what lies in your future

A rich man can be , but he has to strive for it . These people are born into it . That being stated They are luckier then the rich man . Because althought the rich man acheives the same spiritual oneness he has to strive for it . Where as these people with as many disadvantages as they have are born into it . And no its not being in a cave or with nature that gives you the spiritualtiy . Its the lack of the bullshit that is pushed into your head since birth .

Now that is complete and utter bullshit right there.

If you think that being born into poverty instantly makes you spiritual.

Then there is no reason in talking to you any more.

While I think itd be cool to live 3000 years ago or 3000 years in the future I think knowing myself I would develop the same apathy and be surrounded by the same paradoxes.

I respectfully disagree. I don't have issues but its hard for anyone to look at the issue from a distance . 2009 is not a better society then 10 or even 20 years ago .

In some sense what I'm saying is kind of like this. 10 year sago, they had their own problems. 20 years ago, they had their own problems. At the time those problems were just as bad as many problems we face now. It's all relative. But I wouldn't want to live in any other time than now. Because again, it's all relative. My problems 20 years ago would be just as serious as my problems right now seem to me, assuming I am the same person 20 years ago that I am now.

HeroMike, thanks for giving me that 5 shroom rating. Way to dig a knife a little bit deeper. Makin me feel like shit and whatnot. But honestly, fuck that. I didn't like that African comment. I mean your opinion is your opinion, but I just, that comment was in bad taste and just didn't sit right with me.

Agreed.

I would like to hear his explanation as to how being poor makes one more spiritual.

People aren't born spiritual.
They have to learn it, just like the monks do.

IMO someone who isn't struggling to survive would probably have a better chance of becoming spiritual, if they were taught to be spiritual.

Being happy is a state of mind ,you can achieve that almost anywhere under any circumstances.....but it has no bearing of the real state of things, which are worse now than ever.

The Good Ol' Days were my childhood, those were the carefree days of youth and they were better than now.

So yes, the Good Ol' Days did exist, at least for me.

My life is better now than ever.....but that has no bearing the actual state of the world....I said the world is worse now than ever ,not my life.

C-mon now,the black plauge ....get real.

The possibility exists for great things and technology is a great thing, but at what price ?

They sniff the asshole of our cars to see if it smells right in parts per billion, its not all grand and good, the world has become very invasive.

I am not moving into the middle of nowhere to get away from nothing,if there was nothing to get away from then what would be the point of moving?

I still don't believe that.
There have always been wars, it's just that now, everyone knows about them.

As a whole, the world is much better off now, than it was 20, 50 or 100 years ago.
