Best flooring for lab / grow room

I've had good luck using an area that has carpeting, but I don't think it's the best flooring for mycology studies.
I've seen people here using plastic and tarps, but I'm concerned that the surface would be too slippery - especially with alcohol sprayed everywhere. I'm also worried about water or moisture becoming trapped between the plastic and the carpet- turning it into a perfect greenhouse for mold.
Should i pull up the carpet and paint the plywood flooring wilth Killz?? or should I put down some type of non-porus panelling type material??
Any thoughts?

i put a tarp down over my carpet. i am concerned about the possibility of mold underneath the carpet. but cleaned/lysoled/dried the carpet before i covered it.

The Omnilab Tour thread is what prompted my posting.
Is the blue tarp floor slippery?? (esp when wet) and HOW did you attach the edges of the tarp??
My carpets were steam cleaned professionally before use, BUT since i never seem to see carpeting in 'real' labs....I figger it's best to not have it.

I have painted wood floors. painted with high gloss white paint.
they get bleached weekly, and so do the walls. they are also painted in high gloss white paint.
seems to be working fine for me. carpet is a not a good idea, if you can, just remove it.

take it out if you can, i dont have that as an option right now. next house, hopefully soon. the floor isnt slippery, except for right after i lightly spray it down w/ alcohol, but it dries quickly. i just nailed it to the floor, i didnt like the idea of duct taping it to the carpet.

I'd imagine some sort of laminate or tile would be optimal.

If you shop hard. You can often find bedroom size pieces of kitchen type non-skid linoleum, for a fair price. Then, steam clean the carpet, let it dry, then tack the linoleum over the carpet. It's nice to have a floor you can mop, with a sanitizing agent without harming it.

That's what I was thinking- but I don't want to spend $10 a sq ft if I can avoid it.

I sectioned off a small part of my bedroom closet and plan on putting treated outdoor plywood down over the carpet. You can spray it down and it won't hurt it. It's about 12 bucks for a 4X8' sheet. I had tarp before but when I slide my incubator around it just rips it from its staples.

Hi,
In my opinion, bamboo flooring is also a best flooring option for labs. So I think you should avoid carpeting and use bamboo floors.
