The one I have is rated for continuous duty.
Since it was meant to cool some huge big bucks computer, I would venture to say, it's good for years.

AWESOME! Good job. I knew those bubbles would be loud. Good idea drilling holes. Don't you love creating shit?
Anyway, I gotta ask, why not just use the mister in there instead of having to bubble the water? Humidity is humidity, no?

He would use the fogger on timed intervals because it billows out mass amounts of fog. It's basically like having a coolmist and ultrasonic working in conjunction, but in one homemade setup.

right, of course, but why not JUST use the "ultrasonic" on a timer?

Well for one, modified coolmists and ultrasonics seem to be prone to breaking down. There's also the benefit of it harboring a much larger reservoir of water, meaning you need to change it less often, along with the fact that it is able to humidify a much larger growing area than a standard coolmist/ultrasonic setup, if necessary.
:EDIT: plus, who doesn't love DIY projects?

doh! sorry, you misunderstood....my fault completely...im drunk
the "ultrasonic" I was refering to is the same exact technology as the mister. They work exactly the same with minor modification...
No doubt at all, this is THE best idea I have seen. AWESOME stuff here. And if I ever build a martha/fridge, I will use the bucket/mister thing agar is. BUT, how important is the bubbbler effect? Bubbles a) make a bit more noise, and if you have seen my posts, I am the stealthiest fucker around. and b) put more pressure on the fan, thus shortening it's life span (don't know how MUCH, but still)....
But anyway, I do have to give you a hand agar.

Ohhhh I gotcha. Well when the fogger isn't on, the fan is still blowing and acting as the coolmist, offering FAE with just a bit of humidity to keep RH steady.
And agar eliminated the bubbling action by drilling holes all up in the pipe leading from the fan into the reservoir, effectively reducing audible bubbling and back pressure on the fan.
:EDIT: did I swing and miss again?

Thats just what I was thinking. Same reason to use a coolmist! Except without the hastles.
So where did you get the rheostat for the DC fan? I have only seen AC rheostats....do they work both ways?

You can use the controller from a model train set or race track which is basically a rheostat for DC.
Has anyone actually done this bucket tek yet succesfully? I'm finally putting together my stand up freezer FC (All hail Agar).

Your telling me you have a cool mist fogger setup at the bottom of a full 5 gallon bucket? I have made something like you have in the pic but I was forced to use a "fogger buoy" (sp?) I got it from http://www.mainlandmart.com/foggers.html
BTW, this is my new setup. I stoped using the fogger bucket after I made this. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...rue#Post5842321

yeah, a rheostat is a rheostat, it doesn't care if its AC or DC.
AC generally deals in different voltage levels though, so the rheostat's resistance range might be different on one you find in a DC application (and in many cases will have a log slope rather than a linear one, especially if you try yanking an old one out of an audio device). max power rating is always important too so that you dont burn up the rheostat.
if you got something specific in mind feel free to send a PM, i know my electrons even better than i know my mushrooms.
