1) if you had some quart jars of rye and wanted to use it to spawn worm castings and wheat straw, would you spawn the castings first and once they are colonized use that to spawn the straw? (or spawn them both at the same time)
2) if you were to be spawning worm castings with rye would you prefer to do it in a trash bag or a 5 gallon bucket or some other container? (ie: is gas exchange important? would the bucket allow for it if it is?)
3) any other advice concerning this subject (yes ive read the archives and all the teks, just fishing for more...

Your in luck! My friend just did this a couple weeks ago and got a 10 oz wet first flush!! He just mixed the castings and the straw together in a pillow case and pasteurizes. Then spawns in a big tub, think it's a waste of time to colonize one first and then the other and more risk of contams. hope this helps, latr
A friend has done the 10gal bucket trick with 5lbs of pasteurized dung, (and worked with less space and just as much flushes and its just like fruiting from a big jar), first thing past the dung, then add to bucket, mix your spawn he used EQ then let stand in a warm room for a week, when every thing looks white mix with your hand inside the bucket and pack it down it will make the most brilliant white you'll ever see. Exchange air once in the morning for a couple of days then pow! OH ya for best air exchange during the colonizing in the bucket cut three half-dollar size holes then stuff poly-fill into holes it works.
Here are my friends results of the straw/worm castings in an 18 gallon rubbermaid. This is like the 3rd flush but they averaged about 12-15 inches tall and the biggest flush weighed about 16 ounces wet. sorry about the big pic, had to scale it down quite a bit to fit it in though.
