A few questions for you experienced growers

Ok, here's the deal: I've never grown mushrooms before, but I've read tons of documents on how to do it. However, I can find no answers to my questions, so I'm hoping that someone here could answer them quickly, as time is definitely of the essence. 1. I'm going to innoculate several 1/2 pint jars with the Equador Cubensis. Unfortunately I've got to leave for a whole month (Dec 14 -- Jan 13). If I innoculate the jars on the 8th of Dec., would they still be viable on Jan. 13? Is there any way I could innoculate them so that it would take longer to fully cover the jars (like only innoculate one side of the jar, instead of all four sides)? 2. After I case everything in a 20 gallon tank, and after 4 flushes or so, could I just recase the stuff in the terrarium? Thanks for any helpful info.

Why is this a question for "experianced" growers.. a month is a little much, but if you have to, just do it now and let them go for the whole month.. use 1 pt instead of 1/2.. dont have the temp optimal.. and read a few good books

If left at room temperature or better yet a few degrees below, it will take a good month to get to full colonization. Another trick is to pack the substrate tighter when making the jars. When I say pack I don't mean cram the stuff in there, but just lightly pat it down, as opposed to normally softly spooning it in to keep it aerated. These should help slow down the colonization of your jars. 2) After 4 flushes I wouldn't bother with recasing, by then conatminates have already began growing on the surface, but cannot usually be seen yet, or sometimes they can, and re-casing will just allow them to reak havoc. Best to chuck them after four. Or do the the 3M tech, where you case with dung, then remove dung after first flush, then case with dung again, then remove, then recase, etc etc. This way you remove the possibly contaminate prone casing, and you don't break up the mycelium which will help keep its contam fighting abilities higher.

I could swear that he answered all of his own questions. I think I was about 7 or 8 years old the last time I used the term 'dicklick'. heh And you wont get 4 flushes.... Fool.
