pressure cooker assistance

Hey all, i have a mirro 22Qt i believe the model number is 92022, and it works off of a weight. i hate the weight! it doesn't rattle like my old (much smaller) pressure cooker. after a while it just starts letting out steam but it never starts to rattle just shoots out steam. so its like a big guessing game.
So i was hoping someone knows where i can get better parts like a gauge or something.

no no there is a weight but when it reaches pressure it just pushes the weight straight up and blow out steam, even when i lower the temp it will just blow out the steam in puffs, but theres no rocking or rattling, i still use it all the time and it works, but i think that alot of times i am using much more heat then needed, but its hard to tell because it doesn't rock like its supposed to

With a toggle valve, you don't lose moisture
My AA 941 sterilizer calls for 2 pints of water. Almost 2 pints remain after a 4 hour PC run @ 18 psi.
this is something like what i am talking about a "toggle valve"
thanks for the link jim but thats all just like replacement stuff for everything i already have

I don't know what to tell you then, maybe there are no 'aftermarket' upgrades... did you get the PC at walmart or something? Cause they will take it back even if used and give you credit.
Next time you go to get a pressure cooker, get a nice one with metal to metal seals.... it will last much longer...

I have the same PC as you do johnny.
I just use it as is, when the steam escapes, it is at 15 psi.
That weight can be dismantled and rebuilt into threee different weights which will register three different psi's.
The full ball with the holes and black top twisty thing is the 15 psi setup. When the steam starts escaping, turn it down and let it slowly escape for 1 hour or whatever. Easy as pie.
Otherwise, yeah, buy and AA, I'm going to.

I have the 0512 model with the 3 different psi positions on the jiggler and I will admit it works but I miss my old presto.

I originally bought a..... damn, i think it was a Manntra 8qt at Target for $40-50 i forget now. The thing ruined my first two attempts, first by soaking all of my jars, then the third time ever using it, it just stopped working. (???) The little thing that pops up on some PC's (i call it the bot fly) when it is under pressure just wouldn't go. I figured that it's probably just the bot fly malfunctioning not something else that was inhibiting pressure from building up. So i PC'd some jars for 2 hrs, and they got wet spot -_- I returned the piece of shit. I decided to get a better and bigger one on ebay. I found a 1975 never used 21QT Presto PC. it had gotten a little scuffed with during its many yrs in storage apparently, as one of the black handles had broken off. So the seller attached these funky old wooden handles, and threw the remaining black one into the PC for shipping. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! Apparently the original owner had intended this baby for lab work sterilization or something and had purchased these large metal tins- perhaps for petri dishes.... or bulk sterilization!!
cost me all of $90. Ebay has some awesome deals, make sure you buy something sturdy.
(....okay okay, i just wanted to show off my lovely. Hehe.)
