The Lowes/Home Depot/wherever Find Thread
    #5574079 - 04/30/06 01:28 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

This is a thread for you to post all of your finds from Home Depot or Lowes or wherver.

Yesterday I went to Home Depot and picked up 3 cacti in one pot for 25 dollars. Pristine condition, they were 3 Trichocereus pachanoi. How large you ask? 15", 15", and 21". I told my mom that I had 56 total inches of cacti (I have a 5 inch cutting), and she told me that "only a man would care about that", and we went into a wierd discussion with cactus innuendo...

Besides the 2 stores listed above, every other department store in which I have found cacti, Walmart, Kmart, Meijers, have the same tag on the package, "grown by/for Sorensen Greenhouses Inc., Ruthaven, Ont".

I have not been able to determine if this grower carries Trichos of any type.

Maybe we have a member near there who could find out for us.

Thanks, I had a feeling that Wally might carry them, because they carry everything from white socks to black people. But I didn't want to go into a huge list, so I remembered where I got mine, and some other people got theirs, and chose Home Depot and Lowes.
Anyone else care to share their successes at non-cactus specialty stores?

I can't say. All I have ever found in these stores are NOT trichos.

Yea, I have never had any luck either. The closest things ive found at Home Depot (which seems to have the best selection in my area) is a Argeninian Torch and a Trichocereus Grandiflorus (which I did end up buying because it looks like it will bloom nicely and was only $2)

smart move, regardless of if it fucks you up.

I should make some more generic threads.
Remember, this is a thread for posting your experiences at non-cacti places, people. I know some of you have had success!

Even though all those cacti have active constitutes doesnt mean that they are wurth the time and effort for consumption, though they do make for an awesome collection!

....Post in my other thread, por favor.

But not all of them, seeing as how I am guessing that although they may all be active, many of them are in such low percentages as to make any attempt at an extraction or straight consumption would be wasteful of energy and resources and time.
