yes, another "which plants should i grow" thread

ok so im a friggin noob when it comes to plants...
for a long time the only plant i could keep alive was a damn philadendrum (sic?)

ive grown salvia for a few years.... (i eventually killed it)

now all i have is a bonsai

id like to have a few plant friends in my house to go with my fungus friends

im interested in Kraton, Khat(Catha Edulis)
, and poppies.... conditions permitting..
but if strongly reccomended i will go with anything....

here are my conditions (indoors)

strong morning light (eastern window)
humid in summer, dry in winter
hot in summer, cold in winter
i dont have a grow light...
i dont have fancy gizmos...

im lookin fer a houseplant :smile:
a little extra work is ok...
but im not dropping 300$ on a grow light

i would recomend hawaiin baby woodrose they grow ok indoors and like climbing around windows. daturas can grow indoors as well and have very nice smelling flowers that will stink out your house.

i dont know about kratom or khat but poppies definatly need lights. i tried without and ended up with dwarf pods the size of peas.

Try bonsai buds- hell- was just a method posted I believe. I've done that with window light. If you find a plant that needs a little extra light you may wish to aquire a compact flurescent (100w) at home depot for oh say fifteen dollars at home depot. It fits into a hanging fixture (like the metal kind with a clamp). This will supply light that is roughly equipotent with a 400w metal halide at half the distance though. However- considering the heat buildup is not near as severe, the distance should not be a problem. This setup will cost about twenty five dolars total and will grow one or three good anything. I've done it with four indicas and had lots of success. Also- may wish to try cacti. Get a few good peruvian torch cuttings from a reputable vendor. Theyt do well if you get sunlight all morning (a real east facing window unhindered). Tell us what you choose and godspeed!

Hmmmm....
MJ is not a possibility.... my eastern facing window is facing the street

datura is a no go... i have no desire at this moment to become aquianited with her....

Cacti is a DEFINATE possibility... do they grow well under flourecent lights?

does anyone think Khat, Kratom, or Erythroxylum Novogranatense would be a good houseplant in the conditions described above?

im not very plant savvy.... so something easy is prefered
