salvia indoor grow

I live more north than most of you would ever care to go and definatly more north than salvia would care to grow so does anybody know what kinda lights should I use for my salvia plants growing indoors? HPS? MH?

you probably don't want salvia directly under either of those if they are high wattage (200 watts or more). if you have either of them, salvia grows well along the outside perimeter. so you could put some cacti or some other plant right under them. if you are shopping for a new light to grow salvia only, you'd probably be okay with a flourescent grow light or a low-wattage (100 watts or so) MH. no real reason to use HPS for salvia, imho.

does san pedro grow under MH? what if I set it up to grow a whole closet full? It's a fairly large closet.

so how many pedros and how many salvias could I fit under a 400wMH? How about peyote(legal in canada, I think)? or maybe a 1,000w? I mostly want to emphasise on salvia cause you don't have to wait forever to start enjoying the fruits of your labor.

salvia doesn't need the MH and if you use MH don't put her right under it. i know of a 6 foot salvia thriving on nothing but the light entering a north-facing window.

as for cacti, it depends on how big they are and how big the pots are. you can cram as many as possible right under and around a 400w. i've got lots of them under there. they grow really fast. i wouldn't put the light closer than 1 or 2 feet to their tops, though. don't know about peyote but i guess it would do as well. but the pedros grow tall much faster.

From what I've read and heard from most people is that Salvia is not something that most people would like. Some people say they'd never do it agian.

High,

My experience with Salvia indoor:
The best they grow with regular TubeLight(tl).
At least 220 Watts m2 for 18 hrs.

Realy it works great. I also tried: HP400W, Growlux, winterwindowlight(very good but slow growth too) and some other variations. But regular tl #33 does the trick.

if you got an empty closet and some HPS lights why dont you grow the real herb man - forget san pedros! you can only trip on nasty foul tasting syrup every once in a while, when you can smoke the herb all day....just my 2 cents...

It's true, I hate smoking that shit, and i hate the way it makes me feel physically when it does work.

I'm only interested in preserving the specimens i have if Salvia is added to the Hallucinogens act.
