Doubletub Humidity Question

I've been reading my *** off (pretty much every waking moment for the last three days) and two questions remain unanswered.
1) I'm going to be doing the classic doubletub. I've seen a lot of mixed information so ...would it be best to use a coolmist-style humidifier, air wands with a pump or nothing at all? I've seen construction with all three and I'm extremely confused because some teks say that humidity is perfect with nothing but polyfill/tyvek.
2) I've also seen discrepancies over temps for differing stages of growth. I've seen 70-81F for incubation and I've also seen 84F. Some teks list the fruiting temps at 74-76F and some list 80F.
Help?
By the way, y'all have been very helpful so far. Thanks!

1- Your correct the basic double tub doesn't require any extra humidification. And the polyfil stuffed holes will provide sufficient air exchange (but not optimal IMO). Of course you can hook up a cool-mist to it, but that much air flow may actually DRY OUT your casing layer. This is why you need to set it up on a timer. Personally I'd just stick to a double tub with polyfil stuffed holes. Placed in a room that has some air flow via a small fan or something.
The next step up is using Martha set ups. The 4 tier green houses seem to work very well too.
2- Most agree incubation temps are best between 82-86 I'd go with the mid 70's to fruit.

Thanks Musher!
I think I will start off with a double-tub with some tyvek-patched holes and a smallish computer fan with tyvek over that intake.

part of the discrepancies over incubating temp is the difference between the temp outside the jars and inside them. It is agreed that the temp inside the jars are slightly warmer than otuside, since myc generates its own heat. Now the ideal temp for most Cubes are 83-84 ( again disputed) so I would think setting your TIT to 82-83 would be just fine, thati s just me and i am no means an expert just keep in mind the tmep difference, you dont want to have it too hot in there.

Just to clarify, incubation temps for jars are low-mid 80's. Incubation temps after spawning will be optimal in mid 70's.

Tyvek and polyfil are pretty different when it comes to air flow. Tyvek is WAY more restrictive to air then polyfil is. Sure tyvek works fine for GAS exchange in grain jars but for the kind of air flow you need with a double tub it doesn't work well at all. In fact I have even heard RogerRabbit talk about not using any kind of filter in a double tub, just open holes for best air exchange.
Although you can use a small computer fan to help with air exchange (Tokey might have a link for ya ) I really don't think it's necessary. What I mean to say that you just need to have the air in the ROOM moving. So a ceiling fan will work or an oscillating fan set on a timer will also work.
I currently have a tub inside a spare bedroom with an oscillating fan on the other side of the room. Set on a timer to run for half an hour every 2 1/2 hours. I also have some compact fluorescent lights above the tub set on a timer for a 12/12 cycle....No need to do anything but sit back and wait to harvest......Oh but I still probably go check on it three times a day LOL.

IMO, fuck the fans, coolmists, ultrasonics, etc. Polyfil is MORE than adequate for FAE. Just my opinion

I actually gave that a shot and the tub never pinned. Not having polyfil caused a serious loss of humidity .

I've been thinking of that, but wouldn't you be losing alot of humidity? What if you used a bunch of tiny empty 1/32" holes? That way it would be kinda like the polyfill but more "open"?

Did you miss my post directly above yours?

Maybe using small holes would do the trick, but I'll stick with the polyfil. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
