LIQUID CULTURE VARIATION; what about this?
    #5485461 - 04/06/06 05:00 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Well you know, what about nevermind the method of transfer, i.e using sterilize spone or sliding the already colonized cake into a ziplock, crumbling, and then dropping piece of spawn into a glass of sterilized water. What I want to know is,. maybe I can put a coupla oa lentil sprounts in the water for nutrients for the mycelium,
i mean liquid innoculant, the mycelium needs a bit of food right so technically one could through any little bit of nutrient in there better if it doesnt cause discolouration of the water, so one can see the progress of any mycelium, i mean, would this not do as liquid inoculum, just wondering. and how long the stuff lasts in the fridge,
i mean i would incubate my liquid inoculum jars until i saw a fair amount of mycelium....
but i mean woul dit be a nice substitute for say honey or karo, some lentil sprouts or peas, sterilized in the water... just wonderin tho.

There probably aren't enough simple nutrients in lentils for mycelium to proliferate... Feel free to prove me wrong though.
