Myspace really gets me.

It never used to. I used to be a member and actually really like it. So I guess I was cool at one time :smirk:. But it's like a god damn cookie cutting factory now, it's corrupting so many people, making them all try to ... be alike.

It just gets me really upset when I check out people's pages, and each one is just more similar to the one before that.  :thumbdown:

Ever since I 1st heard of MySpace I have avoided and refused to visit on principle. I finally visited it for the 1st time about 2 weeks ago because I found out that the band Portishead hosts their own site there. I took the opportunity to see if MySpace was as bad as I had always believed it to be.

It is, oh yes, and worse.
A true cesspool of e-idiocy.

Yes I used to always think that the "mainstream" thing, was not "my" way... only because everyone else is in to it. But now I think of things without considering others, and just what I think of it. Yes, almost everyone is on the bandwagon of Myspace: having pictures of themselves taking their picture with their camera phone in the mirror of their bathroom, looking extremely emotional, and such. The main thing that gets to me though is when people post bullshit bulletins, such with subjects like, "Omg so sad", with the content talking about a girl who got killed, raped, or molested and commited suicide, stating that if you don't repost this you will die or something.... so yeah. The people I actually "know" on myspace don't do that, so thats good, and more than half of my "friends" I probably would slap in the face if I actually knew them.

I have an account there in case any old friends from school want to try to find me. I've got back in touch with a few people I was friends with until they or myself moved. That's about the extent of what I plan on using mySpace for.

There are millions of people out there. Of course a lot of them are going to be alike. I have met some frikken amazing people on that site.

Yes, there are a lot of fake people, but there are a lot of unique people there as well. I've actually met almost half the people on my friends list in RL, after myspace.

I flew to CA. and met a bunch of them...they were all cool as fuck.

I've met some locals in my area and there are a ew shroomerites on there as well.

Don't judge all of them just because they have a MySpace account. You have one to.

I have an account just to get in contact/keep in contact with old friends. I've come across so many old crushes and best friends with myspace.

It's also nice to use when you wanna keep up with local bands, like when and where they're playing.

I don't have a myspace account. Which is weird, considering how narcissistic I am. I don't feel like I'm missing out though.

For someone like me, who moves around a lot, it's nice to be able to talk to everyone you've met over the years - plus it's great for meeting new people in new cities. I've had some chill folk just randomly message me and ask if I want to grab coffee - usually, if I feel up to it, I oblige. I've met some weirdos, and some good people. Kinda like the shroomery, except with half the world population.

MySpace is MUCH more vast than you might realize. If you spend an afternoon clicking on random shit, you aren't really going to experience the whole thing.

There are so many people on that site that you can't possibly make a broad judgement about how they all act based on a little browsing. There are a lot of really cool people using MySpace. One of the coolest things about it is when I Find someone who I kind of know, but would never really make an effort to talk to... on MySpace we'll end up talking. Not only is it really cool being able to talk to and meet a lot of new people, MySpace and sites like it are going to change the way humans interact. It's some nifty shit.
