casing question?/w pics

I read someplace as you can see in the pics*that when some of the(mushroom network)shows itself that you can put alittle Verm over it so the rest of the casing can catch up.Just wanted some input on that.
It should be noted that after I took these pics I went on and did it but would still like some input please.

My friend's monkey who grows has a line of thinking that goes like this. By covering where the myc. first shows through with more casing, you are simply sealing in moisture (and adding a little). He's noticed that when his casing layer is relatively thin, the myc. grows up through the entire surface of the casing, which results in MANY pins (looking like clumps of barnacles), but the casing becomes dry and only 10% or so of the pins develop into adult fruits. He thinks this is what people refer to as overlay, hasn't seen any pictures of overlay to confirm this though. The pins will only form on the surface or close enough to push right through, so as long as you're adding the extra casing material before pins start to form, this will improve your flushes. Also, having a solid layer of casing on the top allows you to keep misting lightly once a day to retain moisture, rather than spraying the myc. directly, as I have heard is bad.
These are only my opinions based on what the monkey's seen work himself, so if anyone can refute or confirm the above statements, I'd appreciate it as well.

the spray thing i dont sweat because I use a cool mist hum.
