Success stories of useful substrate supplements

There are plenty of great ideas out there regarding substrate supplements, but are there any testimonials? What are some of the success stories? I would hate to be the first guinea pig to waste some substrate to others ideas that aren't proven. Can these supplements be added to cakes to keep them fresh and fruiting? I'am currently trying to dose some cakes with supperthrive to keep four healthy plus flushes moving. Is there anyone else out there that has tried to keep flushes going with additives?

if someone decides to use supplements they should keep control jars and casings so we can see what sort of effect the nutritional boosters are really giving.
