Air Exchange in the Glove Box?
    #5235551 -

how important is (if at all) air exchange in the glovebox?

i've seen GB's where there was no air exchange, pretty much closed tight or sealed w/ lysol inside. then spray lysol, let sit, unwrap foil, open jars or whatever...

and then, of course, the GB's w/ computer fans in them.
i dont see the necessity.
then i thought maybe you could do this:

cut a 2-4" hole in 2 opposite sides of the box. cover w/ filters or use polyfill.
make sure the lid has a GOOD seal (or use the sideways method so the side of the box is the top). put the computer fan in the lid (facing upwards) w/ filter on the inside of the lid, so it blows UP through the lid.

filtered air would be sucked in through the sides, then sucked upwards through another filter, and out.
i guess, kinda-sorta-like a mini flow hood. but real ghetto.

feedback?

i dont think you want any moving air in your glovebox, i dont see how that would help anything.

Yea I'll second that with Omni... I built a Positive pressure box at first, but ended up converting it to still air. Still air is the way to go my friend!

see, now, that's what i was saying.
but the only pictorials or real teks i found in the site advocated using a fan.
also i have a stubborn friend who swears you need one. he uses a fan (but not the way i described), but he's not a very successful grower either

Why would you want to filter the air leaving the box anyway?? If I read that right!

all you need is a cardboard box plastic wrap over the top. holes in the side for your arms to go in. plastic bag in the holes so u can push your hand through and the hole i nthe bag is snuck around your wrist. wash your hands and thats it. technically positive pressure is the best. but practically its just not needed like stated above.

in the beginning a positive pressure box looks good , but once you realize how hard it is to get filters to do there job it is not such a good idea. I built mine Sealed . some i have seen that got clean rooms setup say glove box's are a pain. i do not got that kinda space so i opt for the GB. ghetto set up used 1 large rubber maid , 1 piece of lexan for top window , 2 round ziploc containers as glove clamps, Weather Stripping, several nuts and bolts ,and of course lots of silicone to seal everything

as for tools list 1 utility knife , 1 drill w/ fly cutter , 1 drill bit if my card reader will work today i will up a pic of mine, damn card reader is flaky

You better have a damn good hepa filter if you have air flowing through your glove box!~

I like using Still Air boxes.

To me, moving filtered air through a G/B, DEFEATS THE PURPOSE.

No filter is PERFECT.

STILL AIR IS THE WAY TO GO.
