Whoo, Free Hard Drive
    #5167154 -

On 12/26 I went to my local OfficeMax to buy a hard drive. I was looking for the 160GB Seagate they had on sale for $59.99. They didn't have it in stock, so I had them order it for me and charge it to my paypal debit card.

I got a call a few days later that the hard drive was on backorder. The debit card authorization showed up on 12/26, but on 12/31 the authorization expired and the money was put back in my paypal account. I figured they couldn't get the hard drive and refunded my money, but it showed up on my doorstep today. Maybe they'll catch it, maybe they won't.

I love free stuff!!!

even if there is no money in a paypal account, you'll still be charged and your paypal will be in the negative. paypal will then deduct the payments from your credit card info that you provided...or they'll freeze the account. After a few months of owing paypal money, they'll call collections on you.

I wouldnt get too excited just yet.
fingers crossed nobody notices, but usually they do.

Paypal has screwed so many people, and they will continue to also.

But ive got them back a few times;]

Back then, once you used paypal frequently, they would not debit your account per transaction, but one a week....

So when i closed my bank account, i was still able to buy good for about a week, and heard nothing from paypal, my bank, or the people i bought from / xfered money to.

Sumbitch, they got me. My paypal account went into the negative. I guess I'll have to pay up, or move to Ukraine.

Good. You knew you you shouldn't have gotten that drive for free.

What you did was shitty. It was no different than stealing.

I didn't do anything even close to stealing.  I had money in there, they took the money, they then put the money back into my account.  I figured they were refunding me for a product that was back-ordered/unavailable.

I read on there site that if a product is on backorder for more than so many days that they issue a refund.  So I spent the money on other things.  It wasn't my intention to defraud them and I have no problem paying for something I've received

Your own words betray you.

Keeping something under these circumstances is no better than stealing. In my state, it's called "theft by unauthorized taking".

You are a thief. Fortunately, they caught up with you. Had they not I have little doubt from your own words you would have kept the drive and never paid for it.

I said maybe they'll catch it, "it" being their mistake, not me trying to steal anything. If they were to screw-up and not charge me for something I tried to pay for I wouldn't go out of my way and do someones job for them.

I'm just happy to have more storage space. OfficeMax just opened here 2 months ago and they sure do have good sales.
