I'm looking to get a personal web page up and in the past I've used the free services of AngelFire. I think you get like 20 Megs and a certain amout of bandwith per month. I'm wondering if there are other services out there that offer better deals, less ads, more bandwith, more storage, etc. stuff like that. thx

I dont know, but im getting hosting for $48/year, with domain for $15/year. 1gig space, 10gig transfer, and all the goodies. If you havent gotten paid hosting yet you dont know what your missing :smile:.

What do you plan on doing with your website?

Most sites like angelfire and geocities don't offer scripting... IE: php, perl, cgi exc.. So say you want to have a message board you will have almost zero options, And any that you do find are going to be shit.

gave me free hosting for 3 years.. no ads
I don't know if they are still running that promotion.. but you should try.. I've had no problems with it at all

I found a host called Futuristic Research & Technologies which offers an 'ultimited free trial' account with these features:

"This package is standard with 100 megs of storage, 300 megs of bandwidth, CGI (Perl & PHP), SSH, FrontPage SE, 2 FTP accounts, 2 POP3, SMTP, and Webmail accounts, 1 mailing lists, 2 MySQL databases, 1 sub domains, 1 domain parking spaces, and 1 additional domains for your control panel." It can take up to 48 hours to be approved or you can pay a $1/year fee for instant approval. I think it's one of the better free offers out there.

thx, that was just the sort of hosting I was looking for. now I just hope I get approved in the 48 hrs :smile: though somehow I doubt it, it's almost too good to be true, and I lied in my personal info a little bit.
