Hey all,

Wondering if anyone can help me. A year or two ago I had downloaded a program that allowed you to host your own webstite, where your IP address was the web site address. It only worked while your computer was on, and you could set a directory as the web site directory (where files and other pages could be accessed, but not the rest of your computer. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the program, I think it had a capital X in it somewhere..

Any idea what it was, or know anything like it? Any help would be great. Thanks!

I suggest the most used webserver on the internet; Apache (I don't recommend the 2.x series yet though. Stick with the latest 1.3.x version. Apache is easy enough to use on small personal sites and powerfull enough to use on high-bw high-availability serving.

If you have the $$$, then the Zeus web server (www.zeus.com) is by far the best that I have used. If you don't have the $$$, then apache is by far the best free web server that I have used.

Just another spore in the wind.
