California Poppy

I have been planning my garden for this spring, and this one is among the seeds im ordering. How would one go about harvesting the California poppy (e. californica) for consumption? Would I score the unripe pod as you would p. somniferum, or A. mexicana(opium and prickley poppies)?

ummm....I was under the impression that the cali poppy is
basically worthless.

some have mentioned minimal effects from tea based on the
flower and folliage, but it's not like an opium poppy.
