My friends midgets last casing of tc produced A LOT of abhorts (like 50%) on the first flush. Why would this be and how would he correct this? They still taste good though!

I'm no expert but I would say better air exchange and dont let the casing dry out ... if you have optimum conditions there should be less aborts

ha, 50 percent? dude my cat more than feels your friends midgets pain. check the thread I posted for my cat in pictures, with the amazonian casings. it was like 99 percent aborts. When i went to take todays pictures for my cat (damn paws cant work the camera) I over heard that there were 21 dry grams of aborts and 7 grams of mature fruit from the first flush of those four casings. It seemed to me that there will be probably a few more dry grams of mature fruit from the remainder of the first flush. one of thecasings started its second flush, whichlooks much much much much much better. peace, ar393 and cat

My friend's casings (cubes in coconut fiber) usually produce a lot of aborts in the first flush and bigger shrooms in subsequent flushes. He'd like to figure out how to prevent that first round of aborts too.

an abort is a primordia ("lil baby mushroom" for those who cant speak mushroom-ese) that has stopped growing due to any number of reasons, will never grow big, and will just dry out and/or rot
