all this talk about Hpoo. I know blah blah blah "cows have four stomachs". Well is there that big of a difference?
Is it not an upgrade from grains?

Cowpoo is great! I like the consistency better than horse. I'm using horse for the first time now, and honestly, it's not colonizing as fast as cow.
In the past I've used straight pasturized cow poo, nothing added, and the myc just ate it up :laugh:

When we go out to the fields to pick, the shrooms aren't growing in horse poo, they grow in cow poo. Nature's choice.

i think agar has said that that black kow stuff would work, but i still don't recommend it myself even tho i havent tried it. as has been said, horse poo is the way to go! jus one thing tho, if you can only find it mixed with sawdust, just dry it out and then pick ou the nuggets and muffins (use gloves if you're paranoid but dried poo is safe, i wouldn't recommend eating with those hands without washing them tho :crazy:))

In some instances, cow manure works.
But, I would not suggest or recommend any that is store bought, in bags.

It is not well composted, has a high salt content & was often sprayed with insecticides and/or fungicides.

If you can find a cow manure pile, that is well weathered & leached.

Then, gather some, rinse/wash it out, until what remaims is mostly FIBER.

That works.

But, if your going to that much trouble.

I would search out well aged & weathered h/poo (nuggets & muffins).

It's good to go, as it is.
