horse/cow poo smell

If someone was wanting to pasturize a good bit (pillow case full) of cow/horse poo, would this smell very bad. I kind of figured that if it was dried first, the amonia would be gone and the smell would have left the fecal matter. If someone was to pasturize this horse/cow poo in an apartment, would the smell cause trouble for the other tenates (sp.)? Or would it have not a lot of smell? Please poo goers, feed me your knowledge.

My friend uses aged horse dung and the odor is not bad at all. There is a smell but it's not real strong or unpleasant. He says that if your shit is dry your neighbors will probably not even notice.
He tried pasteurizing some store bought manure once and it REALLY smelled bad. Didn't colonise worth a shit either.

awesome! I guess it would have to be pretty dried out then. Cow poo is easily obtained around these parts, but horse poo might be more difficult to find. Most of the posts around this site are about horse poo, but can cow poo substitute effectively?

The poo from any herbivorous animal will work well....horses are fed with lots of oats and as such it generaly has a better nutritive value....doesn't taste that great but what do the shrooms know....

you can infer what it tastes like by what it smells.
taste is majority smell ! Like, when you have the sniffles, you cant taste your brocolli !!!
