Quick LC question - possible black pin mold?

Hey guys, just want a second opinion on an LC that I am about to use.

It is a South American honey water LC that has stalled out on me. I want to use it because the stall is worrying me a little...and as it is I have a nice fluffy little pile that I don't want to waste.

Here's the problem though. Right in the center of the pile of myc I have spot of black that I originally took to be a clump of ungerminated spores. I have been waiting for them to take off but they haven't and unless it's my imagination the spot seems to have grown ever so slightly...

If this was black pin mold wouldn't it have taken the whole jar by now?

It has been about 5 days...

Should I be worried?

When a LC stalls, it's usually because it has used up most of the nutrients in the liquid. Make your culture syringes now or refrigerate the culture. It should be fine, but the only way to know for sure is to use the LC and find out.
I've had some strange things show up in mycelium of a LC many times and they worked out fine.
The only time I had one fail was when it was infected with trich from a bad print.
The entire top of the LC was covered with powdered green!!! What a mess to clean up those jars!

Thanks man, Yeah I'm probably alright, at least it's not the green floaties anyway...lol...I would have thrown the jar away!

You would throw away the greens (that don't kill you)
and Save the possible black Pin, (that CAN kill you)???

Just giving you shit...I'd innoc some agar with that LC and see what happens, as to not waste any jars/substrate.

Good point jarrod...black is nothing to mess with...

I just figured that if it were the black it would have taken the whole jar, am I wrong to think this? Perhaps I should just get rid of the damn thing anyway. I really can't afford to kill myself this week I have way to much to do...lol

I don't think you're wrong to think it would have taken over the whole thing. I haven't much experience with contams (other then green, FUCK BULLSHIT ASS GREEN!!!)...

But I'd still try an agar sample and see what comes of it. If nothing more then an educational experience, so be it.
