black dot contam? looks like pepper

does anyone know if this is actually contamination? I have about 4-5 small black spots stuck to the glass of my jars at the spot of inoculation, they look like fine ground pepper. someone told me that this could possibly be spores? it's jet black man...

hopefully it's not contams hey...

Did you notice them soon after you innoculated. It is usual to see clumping of spores laying on your substrate. It is easy to tell in the early stages because you will start to see the starting of a mycelium network to branch off of them. After that, they usually become more apparent due to the white background and people beging to worry. When you birth your jars look for any signs of cobweb mold and waft some air towards your nose. Please, dont sniff it like crazy because I dont want you to snort some kind of mold spores and then sue the shroomery so just get a basic idea of the smell. It should smell mushroomery, grainy at the most. Fruity, moldy, stink smells are evil and should be thrown away in caution.

no dude I just noticed them today, and they're only at the spot of inoculation, nowhere else. maybe they were there all along but I doubt it, they may have been though because I used dark rye flour and it presents a dark color, harder to tell if there's any contams that way. someone told me just wait and see if they expand and produce more, I guess that's a way to tell if it's pin mold or not.

Hey, no worries for you. My sisters, moms, daughters, brother had the same thing going on. he asked the same exact question and got multiple people to reply with throw them out, get them away from the others. However one person e-mailed him direct and said not to listen to everyone else. And that is exactly what he did. He closed his ears and now has many healthy shrooms and jars. Probably just spores. Anyhow he did not listen and maid out fine. As long as it doesnt spread no worries!

yeah it's not spreading so far, I think i'm safe! thanks guys! I think with this jar I just inoculated a few more spores than the other jars, I had some spore water left over from the syringe
