That's Petsmart policy.

In the last thread many commented that Petsmart will most likely not call the police, and will do everything needed to keep the situation underwraps. Why? Because the manger doesn't want the hassle, the higher ups don't want the hassle, and they definitely don't want to bring the police involved.

Why then are you so concerned about their "policy"?

Fuck Petsmart. This is beyond Petsmart. It belonged to be at the police department the very next day. Not on some loser managers desk. It has been a while now, and the credibility of reporting it has diminished.

Bad news. This isn't, YOU against Petsmart. It is the animal abuser against the law. Simple as that.

This person abusing dogs could cost the lives of small children. Do you understand that? We've said it before and here I am saying it again. You want to just forget the moral responsiblity in having to report this guy because you might lose your job, or miss your friends at your new petsmart. GREAT. Hopefully a small child doesn't get mauled for touching the abused dogs in the wrong place at the wrong time.

No skin off your back. Right?

Damn Petsmart policy.

This isn't intended as an "I told you so" so please don't take it that way. You may or may not have seen my original posting to your original thread, so...

I don't know what state you live in, but you need to look into the State and Municipal Agencies that look after animal welfare. Get them involved. You should also get the State agency that looks after employer/employee relations. Here in California that would be the California State Labor Relations Board.

It's alittle late to notify the police at this point because it will be difficult to document the evidence, and it really has come down to your word against his.

It is sad to say this, but your only hope is that the dog has physical injuries that may still be able to be documented, and you have to think about the potential reaction of the owners to YOU if you present them with this information now, ex post facto.

There is no way you end up getting fired for this without the oppurtunity to take petsmart to court over it. You should definitely tell the family about this. If someone came and told me that my dog was beaten period, let alone that badly by some fucking sick bastard while I was paying to have her groomed and looked after I would be IRATE. They will more than likely go to the cops at this point, so you shouldn't need to initiate that. More than likely at this point the cops will come find you and get an eyewitness account of what went down. Talking to the guy(girl?) above your onsite manager also sounds like a reasonable thing to do. Whatever you do you can't in good conscience move to another salon and forget what happened. First step contact that dogs owners TODAY and from there just add your assistance where needed and hope that they fire you so you can sue the shit out of them.

Oh geez!

Why don't they put cameras up? What is twice as disturbing about this now is that it sounds like Pet Smart (at least some managers at one store) don't even care about peoples pets.

Is there a way you can by pass your store managers and go straight to a corporate head about this?

People trust a store with a name that big. To bad you don't have proof because I would take it to the local media.

Darn, you should've gone in their wired with a spy camera first before blowing the whistle. Hindsight knows everything eh?

Maybe you can find some friends who are just as pissed as others are to picket in front of that store warning people about him-hahahaha

I would go to the police and file an animal abuse complaint agaisnt the dude and Pet Smart.

I never watch TV so I don't really know what's around here.

im with redstorm, contact the owners, tell them wut hes been doing to their pet! see if they will try to do anything. if u dont have hard evidence theres not much u can do. u could just let it go and let karma kick his ass, or pursue it and either waste alot of time, or get him in alot of trouble, either way its going to cost alot of time

the cops simply wont do anything... I had 3 goats shiot and my house broken into
5 times, this was a period of 2 months, I provided the cops with serial numbers
and a license plate from the trailer that a witness had said was seen leaving my
house the cops response "we'll take a report"

if the cops did their jobs, that would be different

Id go to TV media if thats thr route you are going. Research what TV News stations you have in your area. At 10tv news here we have whats called crime stoppers and they investigate what others wont and expose alot of shit. Im sure there is something like that there.

television, there's more viewership there than in news papers, on station picks
up the story and a few days later it's made national via CNN, plus TV media
generaly has the resources and access to the equipment to handle something like that

I wish I still had my surveilance catalog, there were all sorts of goodies in
there, cameras in ties, hats and even pens... I currently have several of these
but they'd be ineffective in your situation

Ya, my local news has a crime stoppers investigative report also to warn people about local business's. The news station launches their own investigation. They send people into places with hidden cameras.

Maybe they can get someone employed there to wear one.

google for news stations in your area and I'm sure if you find one with a crime stoppers they will have contact information.
