He gets to stay, but I go to another store. (animal abusing revisited at Petsmart)
    #4870734 -

I talked to my manager yesterday.  She said that he'll know it's me who reported him and that if he denies it, it's his word against mine.

The only way he'll be fired is if he admit it.  Fat chance of that happening.

I was scheduled with him all next week.  My manager said she's sending me to another store to work until further notice.

So.

Because I witnessed someone kick a dogs ass until it couldn't stand and reported him, I have to leave all my friends at my salon and go work somewhere else while he gets to stay and continue to harm dogs.

:mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

I am alternating between being nonchalant and accepting of my situation, to being enraged with a heavy burdon of injustice.

I don't get it.  This guy has been on all the manager shit lists since I got there three months ago.  Finally something happens that can get him seriously fired, and *I'm* the one who has to leave?

I know that Petsmart's policies are to protect both parties.

But it pisses me the fuck off.

I saw him STRANGEL A DOG UNTIL IT'S EYES WERE ABOUT TO POP OUT, and punch it in the face at least a dozen times and then kick and slam it's little body until it couldn't stand up!!!

Am I overreacting or is this seriously kinda fucked up??!

That's really unfair. What is this world coming to? Are there no cameras in the store which could have caught him in the act?

If I were in your shoes I'd give every ounce of my energy to ensure that this man never works for Petsmart again. Inform the owners of what happened and go to the police. Your anger should be directed at the fact that he gets to keep a job around pets not that you have to change stores.

No cameras!  When the manager was telling me this she acted as though she were sending me away to another store for my safety.  But why do *I* have to be the one to leave?!!!

Of COURSE I am horribly grieved that he gets to continue to handle the pets!!  But I am at a point of helplessness.  I feel pretty fucking depressed over the entire thing, because I feel like nothing I say will do any good!  What's worse is that there are other groomers who have SEEN HIM ABUSE animals and yet they will *not come forward!!! (???)  I've asked them too and they said that "They're afraid they'll lose their jobs if they come forward."  :frown:

So...what can I do?  It's his word against mine.  That's Petsmart policy.  :mad2:

Have you gone to the owners or the police? What he did was illegal. You are not helpless.

I need a plan of action...I need a set course of actions and events that I can set forth. But I need to be prepared...going up against a corporation is no easy work.

I am open to suggestions. I was thinking about emailing, calling or otherwise contacting my distract manager and speaking to him personally. I obviously should contact the police and see what they say I can do, or what they can help me with. Perhaps if I involve the police, I can consider calling the media.

Keep in mind that I need my job and I need to keep working. Part of me is paranoid that they will fire me if I go all out to bring him down under their nose.

So.

so do not accept it, explain that you dont wish to move that you feel
comfortable in that store and that it's not you that did anything wrong, unless
of course reporting animal abuse is wrong...

in the mean time, contact your local media, ask them to assist you with hidden
cameras, tape the acts being committed, your managers responses and then expose
the shit thats happening... the down side, you'll lose your job, the up side,
multimillion dollar class action lawsuits

I'd kick the shit out of him for you!~
You need to find another dog lover like me in your area that will.
:smirk:

It is unjust that you have to leave...I'd be mad too.

Threaten to file a law suit against him and Pet Smart?

Maybe report him to Animal Control in your area...so this is on record.

and last but not least....bitch slap the bastard!~

take care!~

My suggestion is to talk to the owners. Surely they would be enraged and start something.

Getting the media involved is just going to get you fired. Calling your distract manager is a good idea though, that's a good place to start. To me it sounds like your store manager is afraid of losing his job for allowing an animal abuser to work under him/her, and frankly he/she should lose their job.

Good luck and please do yourself a favor by not letting this slowly fade away.

there in lies the catch 22 for the store, if they fire her for ratting out the
other employee they get sued. thats harder to prove because she's the only
witness thats willing to come foreward, if she has it on tape, and they then fire her,
she files a suit, every loving pet owner pulls their business from petsmart,
hippies boycott and picket, the national media grabs a headline and sales
further decline, public support would be on her side when she goes to court,
they'll try to setlle out of court for a few hundred thousand

I don't feel comfortable in my salon with HIM there, that is the thing.

I WOULD feel more comfortable in another salon if he is going to continue to work at my salon. I don't want to be anywhere near him.

Okay...you're right, I should fight this. What Petsmart is doing (beyond the happy family facade) is what has been making our world consciousness sick for decades.

It's just this is my first confrontation with a seriously corrupt organization, you understand.

There is a mom and pop type groom shop down my street. I have been thinking about going in and asking if they hire bathers. Just to be safe...perhaps I'll also get a Petco (gag) application. It's just hard for me to reconcile the fact that I SAW HIM BEAT A DOG to the point of injury and yet he is still there and they are trying to bury this fact.

I am not used to this kind of company cover up. I mean, I've heard of it happening, but it's not often you have a one on one experience with it.

I am trying to remember that as long as I do the moral (truthful) thing, I will be rewarded in the long run.

But is that really true? Guess I'll have to find out...

I've been waiting for an opportunity to wage war against the System...so I suppose I need to step up.

I am 90% sure that if I told the family what happened, it would set the rest of the wheels in motion. Because what real family would sit docile if they learned the news that a member had been horribly abused?

I am just incredibly terrified of losing my job. I don't know what I would do at that point.

But anyway. Telling the family would definiately be the first step.
