Hi everyone, I was thinking about this many years back as a way to get feedback from our users on our website/message boards.

I was thinking I would host a shroomery town hall meeting in IRC this next upcoming week with people to let them tell me directly what they do/don't like, things that need to be worked on, etc..

Its all based on interest of course, but would you attend a shroomery town hall meeting in IRC if given the opportunity to chat with the site administrators?

It would be set up like a moderated discussion, not a free for all chat.

The basic idea is we have a IRCer handling this whole thing, the will have all questions sent to them, the channel is silent cept for the questions and the admin response to the question.

So mods can certainly be there, during the Q/A part you can only ask questions like any user.

I will likely stay behind after the official Town Hall is over and open the whole thing up for free for all discussion, moderated of course in case someone gets out of hand but I want to get as much out of this as possible.

If anyone has been in any organized chats like this they can be very useful and I want to get something out of it :smile:

It would be a good idea if questions were ACTUALLY answered. Hasn't happened yet in my hundreds of communiques with the staff.

Maybe this time things will be different.

Then I found out it's cause the thread had been "stickied" so
it's now at the top of the forum thread list by the rules, which
people often don't pay any attention to since the same
threads have been sitting there for ages :smirk:

No, unfortunately the Shroomery will never be a true democracy. However, you all have voices and so long as you go through the appropriate channels, we do take the time to listen to everyone who contacts us. I believe Thor's goal in this Town Hall Questionnaire is to provide a greater understanding for the membership, with respect to how and why we do what we do, as well as receive feedback and potential ideas for future use. As to which ideas will ultimately be implemented, that decision will still be made by the directors.

well, i clicked yes because i would like my chance to sit in on the meeting, but in the back of my mind, i am wondering if that irc chat thing works here, i think i tried the shroomery chat gig with this conputer & with another some time back, and was not too friendly or some glitch.

I am heading out of town for about 5 days come tomorrow morning, and since I haven't seen Thor very active as of late, and he is the instigator for this meeting, I am going to remove it from the global announcement list for now. Not to say we don't want to and/or won't be having such a meeting in the future - but it's probably a couple weeks off at best.

Yeah our schedule right now is bad, aiming for the next weekend or following likely as this upcoming is a holiday weekend.
