To start the summer right, we are going to get those long awaited Shroomery T-shirts made.. But before we do that I wanted to hold a contest for designing the Shroomery T-shirt.
Heres the deal, I want a small logo on the front chest of the shirt, something like the shroomery brain logo or possibly even just using that....
Its likely these shirts will be Black T-shirts, I think the white T-shirts are boring and we want something that will stand out....
Here's some graphics done by Ythan and Suffer back in the day...
For the back of the T-shirt
 - Great for Black Tshirt
Please try to keep it 300 dpi at least, and be aware the more complex your art the harder it is to reproduce on a T-shirt... So 6 colour would be great if you can do it 
So heres the deal, the winning design(s) will get of course a free T-shirt and some other goodies that will be announced shortly....
We will try to decide on this within 2 weeks, I don't want to set a date but within that time frame.

oh man, don't tease me, is this finally going to happen?
we should absolutely do Ythans+Aphex's design, it rocks. We would be better off with something else in the front though. I've got no ideas.
I think its easiest to reproduce tshirts on light colors, so I'd vote for the old design on the tan shirt.

I could get us a bunch of shroomery stickers made, we just gotta decide on the design. They would be the really nice stickers that pull away and leave the actual sticker, not the shape of it. Hopefully someone understands what I am talking about. They would be pretty cheap and very professional.

I could put an "I grow Shrooms" bumper sticker next to my
"I love cops" sticker on my ride. I cant wait for the shirts and stickers if they come out! I think when people are designing them they should realise that the shirts be designed around adult tastes & not catered towards the high school crowd.

Good to see the enthusiasm  .... No set price yet, its all depending on how many I buy up front and of course depending on the T-shirt type and how much art gets put on that T-shirt...
It won't be like $15 dollars, expect maybe around $30, but again I have no idea really yet... I just want everyone to know the shirts are being geared for Quality, I think we can all agree this shirt will be popular and we should get something that you can own for many years
I look forward to your designs... Maybe we can even go with 2 or 3 designs...
As for those stickers, that would be really cool, PM me about details .....

In some ways I really want the t-shirt, i think it would be really cool and all, but i dunno, theres just something about it that wouldn't make me want to wear it if it had www.shroomery.org on it.
Fucking good idea though, maybe it should just have The shroomery or Shroomery on it.

Isn't wearing a shroomery shirt a dead give away about what your hobby is? Even if they don't know, you'd be wearing it to promote this site, so eventually they'd find out. I'd love to wear one though.

Well I'll be sure to NOT buy one of those. As I have said before Iwill not support any organization that has thore as a member.
When I first came here they were talking about it. How much would one of those shirts be? If I had my vote I vote for the original shroomery logo; I love that thing. When I first saw it I thought it was a brain with the different thinking parts outlined but then on second glance I realized that it wasn't a brain. Cool stuff I'm sure alot of people here will buy them. If you all have e-mails of the old peole who haven't been here recently I'm sure they would buy one too. I will proudly wear my shirt if I ever go to jail and brag about how cool htis site is. I hope you all go through with this because I would REALLY like one.

Those designs are great my compliments to the artist.
One of em for the back and something smaller for the front would be awesome. I was also thinking a tan or brown 100% cotton (of course) would be the way to go...
Im gonna try and sketch something up would someone reproduce it on a computer? Ive been outta the graphics business too long to do it myself unless someone has a copy of Aldus Freehand (i dont even think they publish that one anymore)

i agree that this would be awesome.. but theres something about the www adress on it that makes me not want to wear it as well.... the shroomery isnt really "ubderground" at all, but we have a cool, rather tight knit community. if you wear teh adress all over anyone and their mom would be going to this site. Now, i understand that in the long run thats probably what you want, a lot of people at your site, but i dont know. I think it should just say "the shroomery". people who go will know, people who dont will just think its cool.

I am definately going to buy one. I think the large black one should go on the back of the shirt, and the little brain one should go on the front chest of the shirt without the mustard colour.

Suggestive feedback:
No WWW.com.
Lower the price. My friend works at a embroidery/silk screen printing shop. High quality for 20 bucks (one shirt-retail). Really, if you need to charge that much and you're buying wholesale...
White as well~it's hot as hell(will be soon)
Oh yeah, did I mention at $30 the price is too high?

Man you people are paranoid... What do you think will happen, a undercover cop will see your shirt and follow you home, then get a warrant to search your home because your shirt says www.shroomery.org?? LOL 
Or maybe you'll walk around in a mall, someone will see your shirt and yell out "drug user!!!!" then a mob will form and chase you down and beat you to death... I hear this happens quite frequently....
People were drug related shirts all the time, nobody pays that much attention to those shirts, why should they to ours.. And really what do you think is going to happen anyways, its just a T-shirt, even if it did say "Hi I own a meth lab" nobody could do ANYTHING about it... You could argue its a joke, and no judge in this continent would give anyone a warrant because of a T-shirt....
Its funny how paranoia gets to be so extreme sometimes ....

Next, I believe that shrooms should be in the first plan, not the shroomery.
P.S. My friend got extremly good quailty t-shirts (orange :)) on wholesale for less then 10$ .
Thor, thats not the point. The point is the people you know will find about this site, and in some cases you do not want that to happen.

well, the more i think about it, the more i would prefer no address on it, but for other reasons... personally, ive always shied away from wearing brand names (adidas excluded... hehe, who couldnt be tempted by their break-away sex pants)... because i dont like feeling like advertising for someone else; paying to be a walking billboard just gives me the heebies. i know that isnt the point of the shirts, but it leans that way the more *brand recognition* is attached to it (the web address).
i want one nonetheless ::grin::
anywho, arent there going to be a few choices? couldnt there just be one design that has the addy & doesnt?
edit- i DO want *shroomery* on it somewhere, otherwise, fp has some pretty shroom shirts & hoodies with no mention of ::gasp:: (youknow)...

about the nick-name thing, i think it would be cool if there were shroomery bowling shirts, with the logo on the back and your nick on the front right. I think that the tan color of the old board suites a bowling shirt perfectly. but for now a black T should be fine, plus it costs alot less. guess we gotta take baby steps...

this's great!
although me being a bit conscious of living in a smaller type community, where i'm sorta well known. makes me hesitant to wear anything too outlandish.
i'd love a simple, subtle t shirt like the brain logo though.
count me in on that one. (or 2 or 3)

I would def. buy a shirt, I like the first design. I think it would be best with a cool design on the back with no words, then put The Shroomery on the front or any type of small logo that says shroomery or has the brain logo with "Open your Mind" or something. I dont like words on the back, I think it takes away from the design. I think if we put a url on it everyone and their mom will come here, and we will start getting a lot of garbage posts. Its better with just The Shroomery, that way if someone was interested in mushrooms they could do a search, or ask where we got it.

I absoloutly love this idea, you can definitly count me in for one. Must they be black tho? Black is such a hot, blanketing color for summer activities. I'd like an ash one or failing that, white. Mustard would be key, but I think that idea got tossed out somewhere along the line.
A lot of people want a lot of different designs, it seems like. Maybe you could come up with 2 or 3 designs and people could pick whichever one they preferred.
I think putting our nicks on the sleeve is a brilliant idea. Bring on the Shroomery T-Shirts!

this is something I just roughed out the other day...can I get some opinions? I figured since we are needing something for the front of the shirt, less is more...Keep in mind this is extremely rough, and it is beginning to look very stylized in Freehand...
I was thinking about turning the eyes under the 'shroom head' into spore sprints...

Although, I have no contribution to the design i must throw in my two cents. I feel the original shroomery design is cool but the other two are way to cmplicated they belong on a poster or postcard something of that nature. It should be a little less complicated simplicity is the key. I dont think you could get a good silkscreenning of those designs either way.
Just my opinion of course i could be wrong...

READ THIS POST! I've ran into an excellent solution for making whatever shirt we decide to make.. We could affordably offer multiple designs!
Check out http://www.cafepress.com . What you do is send the JPGs and they will make tshirts available with those JPGs printed on them. From what I gather, they are able to do high-resolution with full color at very reasonable prices. I'll be checking out a sample of their work soon. We can raise the price a couple bucks and the proceeds would then go to the shroomery.
The cool thing is, you don't have to order 30 shirts to get a good price, and they take care of shipping and all the BS.
woohoo! I think I really hit a gem here.

Well I looked into it and they have white shirts and grey shirts. I'd prefer grey over black, just because well I don't like to wear black. I admit thats not a lot of options.
But I think they do full-color printing, at 300 or 600 dpi. I think we could do Ythan and Suffer's original design on ash grey and it would look sweet.

hear it loud and clear people! there is really only one person in this site who should design the logo for the shirt; mjshroomer. this guy is going to the mushroom hall of fame. it would be nothing short of great respect and adoration to let this modern day psychedelic high priest design the logo that will proliferate on shirts for many years to come. in fact i think the logo on the home page should be redone by him . this guy has contributed more to world of psychedelics than albert hoffman. i only hope some day that he gets immortalized on a blotter sheet. thats just my 2 cents on this topic.

i stumbled across this pic at bluehoney... and i think it would look awesome on a black T-shirt... problem is we should locate the artist and ask him if it is ok... hmmm just an idea... bluehoney! are you around? do you know where we can find this Hudson Atwell (the artist)????

im thinking u should do more than one t-shirt and have one for the hip hop heads and not just tree huggers and shit(nuthin against hippies though)maybe some phat graf or ill clown face like a jester with mushrooms on the jester hat wit multi colored tracers all around him..maybe the hat parts gay but if somebody feelin this pick it up and go with it cuz i dont draw i rap...peace

I really like that art Lozt Soul, very cool indeed. Ok its been a little while now, so heres some decisions I've made.
1st, can anyone take Ythan/Suffer design and remove the URL off the picture so there is only "The Shroomery" left?? I need that done if we are to offer the non-URL version.
I think the best thing to do is offer many of the designs here on the Cafe Press store, that way we can make more people happy with the decision.
But having said that I will still be getting T-shirts of much higher quality made for myself, Ythan, Suffer, Aphex, 3D, etc... The original designs, with the shroomery Brain on the front left chest (without the mustard colour you see around the brain), and I'm looking into getting each shirt customized with our nicks....
So this way everyone is happy, those who want to save money can go with the Cafe press store that we will set up soon, and also for those who want customized (possibly) black T-shirts with the formentioned design can let me know so I can make enough for those interested...
I really like the idea that we can get mousepads, coffee cups at this Cafe Press, that is a nice addition to the T-shirts..
So please if you have any designs yet to submit, please do so soon... And my thanks to all the designs submitted, we sure do have a lot of talented people here...

could you remind us again how much the shirts would cost? I like the idea of a black one with the nickname but I wouldn't want to spend a huge amount of money unless it was very good quality. I think this is a great idea and hope it works out.

the only problem with cafe press, is they only do WHITE shirts. and while white is okay, we need some variety. thats teh onlty obsticle i see with C. Press shirts.

I believe cafe press also does a brownish shirt, I can't remember though.....

you should get shirts that are dark dark dark purple, just like a cube spore print color, and put the rainbow shroomerybrain logo on it

sorry but all that psychedelic horseshit you guys do on your computer looks sorta half-cool ala mjshroomer, but i don't want that on my t-shirt. if you get a coca-cola t-shirt you don't expect it to look like a tool album cover, you expect to have the fucking coca cola logo on it.

definately make a lighter colored shirt, or both.... but at least make a lighter colored shirt. Most of us are pale little wussie shroomers that lack pigment in our skin to deal with the sun.... as such, dark colored shirts would be WAAAAAAAAAY too hot!!!

Jared,I hope you don?t mind taking your picture for the T-shirt, but I found it simply great! There is a mushroom girl too?
And, yes, the bigger resolution picture would be very welcome. I doubled your original .jpg with S-Spline 2, but a better original resulution image would off course be much better.

I would like a basic shirt with earthy colors and a small group of P.C's on it, maybe a few with opened caps a little upturned and some breaking veil or pinning. I wanted a tattoo on my foot of a smooshed group of mushrooms like this but the nice fellow said it wouldn't last on the bottom of my foot..I ramble, regardless I'll buy one.....

For all those who like the black shirts how bout lost soul's found picture w/ the shroomery or something on the front, maybe in like an old english font :P just an idea for the black shirts; come to think of it the fsr logo would look rather fetching on a mustard shirt ;)

The Cafe Press shirts should be ready for sale in the next couple of weeks. I was hoping to get that ready for our shroomery re-opening after we switch hosts.
I am really busy for the next couple of weeks, but I will really try to get this up and running soon. As for the original shirts, I still need someone to take the original artwork by Ythan/Suffer and change the www.shroomery.org to The Shroomery.....

I've got Jared working on fixing the orginal shirt designs, once he gets that done I'll take it in to the print shop.
The Cafe Press store will be opening soon with most of these designs available. If anybody wants to add any more designs, or wants to suggest something please do so soon.

I'm curious, if I went with something a little more fancy, put up a shroomery online store that offers:
T-shirts, Sweatshirts, Baseball Caps, Mugs, Clocks, Picture Key Chains, Stickers, Golf shirts, Aprons, Visors, etc..
Or is the plain Cafe Press store enough ?:)

I'm with tec on this one. I want the tried and true shroomery colored brain looking logo.But if you ask me the MJ stuff looks like crap. Too many colors, maybe all the mushrooms have dulled your natural color aesthetics MJ. They have been dulled from so many bright neon trips that you can't see buety in regular colors or maybe you just want to express the beuty of your trips? Well anyway-- go with the shroomery brain logo. When are you guys going to make this shirt thing available???

Thor, if you still have the old images/goodies directory, there should be a ZIP containing the original PSD for that logo. The original image was 300dpi and all in layers so removing the URL would take just one click. I think it was called tshirt.zip or tshirtlogo.zip or something like that.
