i think the shroomery can go much further when it comes to mushroom cultivating, one thing that comes to mind is also bigger focus on gourmet and other mushrooms also

I really dislike having to enter a number to login to the shroomery. It seems to be an extremely unimportant security feature.

The FAQ section is pretty interesting the way it is but it could be improved. Many teks might be confusing for some people and some teks might also need more explanations. Putting a lot of pictures could be nice too.

This site has to be all about mushroom growing, at least, that's mostly what i'm interested in. 99% of my posts are related to cultivation and i don't really see the point of coming here and wasting time in OTD.

The dumbess thing about shroomery IMHO is all these people that post here and just don't give a shit about cultivation. They seem to enjoy it a lot and i guess it's fine but hey, there's around 1000 boards all around the net for chill talk...

For me, shroomery is for learning about cult and now helping others with their projects.

I like this place...

It'd be cool if on the search function, there was a feature you could search for posts with pics in them. That way, when I'm looking for someone's pic, I could shorten the search a bit.

to me the fact that you took the time to make this poll is exactly why im happy with the shroomery as it is. while there are complaints about how things can be run better, i think a large part of that is just the fact that people like to bitch. The current quality of the shroomery is at a point where while people will complain, they arent going to leave, because when it comes down to it this place is better than a most.

thats just my take on the situation though.

I respect your opinion. The fact is many do not like OTD, but we have to not only cater to some but to all. Therefore you have choices like the Pub as an alternative to OTD.

If you never click on OTD you won't be bothered by it, but the fact is people who do not like OTD click on the forum and then click on posts and find themselves getting upset by it.

Well would you walk into a bar and walk around it getting all pissy at those who drink booze because you feel booze is only for degenerates?

Don't worry about OTD taking up resources, its not, yes its active but we can more than handle its presence without any harm to the speed or efficiency of this website.

So my point is its choice, you choose to view OTD or you don't, either way don't get mad at it if you are not forced to view it which you are not :smile:

That way everyone has a home, because we will never have 100% agreement on anything anyways.

I have problems with the number of stupid posts/users. Then again, Im a bonified asshole. But anyway, to clarify with a specific example that involved myself and magash - this thread - Someone posts a stupid thread thats been answered at least once a day, every day, for the past year. Then someone responds in an incomplete fashion. Then all hell breaks loose.

I will suggest two alternate courses of action:

1) If you want to keep the idiots around, make a sticky at the top thats a FAQ thread. The newbies that ask the stupid questions without reading the FAQs arent going to be half assed to dick around the Tek repository - you need to hit them over the head with it.

2) (my personal favorite) Make a new sticky thread titled "IF YOU ASK A QUESTION ANSWERED IN THE FAQ YOU WILL BE BANNED" Then follow up. Once you cut down on stupid questions, the more intelligent ones will become more visible and will hopefully spawn even more intelligent questions.

Also, when someone posts a question like "Is this mycelium?" fine, its hard for first timers to know (Maybe a picture section in the faq is called for?). And when the first two responses are "Yeah, looking good", thats fine too. But when you get 10 more after that giving a thumbs up smiley or something like that, whats the point? It slows down the database, it takes up more bandwidth, it detracts from whatever seeming intelligence this board displays.

I agree about adding the ability to delete photos....
I wanted to clean up some space the other day.

BTW the admin and many users here are fantastic.  Learning to grow without this site and the responsiveness of the users and admins would have been 500% harder.

Also the sponsors deserve a shout out because before I found the shroomery I was having no luck with getting quality spores.  The sponsors also add to this sites credibility and usefullness.

All and all the shroomery ROCKS! :sun:
