Howdy ythan, I think it's been about 4 years since the last time we spoke directly. That itself shows just how much the site has grown. Anyway, I love the shroomery. If anything comes out negative, just remember that. You asked for elaboration, so here's mine:
Quote: Which features would you most like to see us improve?
Without a doubt the archive/teks and the search engine. This is a shrooms site, and those are the two things must useful for people looking for shroom info. They are also two areas that could be improved a lot, although the teks/faq etc are much better than they were just a year or two ago. Quote: What direction do you think we should be moving in?
I accidently chose other, but should have abstained. I've never used the site for anything other than mushroom info/conversation. People who use or have a problem with the other areas probably have a lot more input on this. As long as there is good mushroom growing/hunting/ingestion info here as well as conversation on the boards I really don't care. If I want a hug I'll get one from my daughter. If I want small talk, I'll get it at the coffee shop. But whatever ya'll want to do outside of shrooms is fine w/me.
Quote: What would you say the biggest problem is on the BB?
other. personally I think the biggest problem is that the cultivation boards are rarely active with a lot of the useful methods and ideas being discussed at some other shroom sites. This isn't only the shroomery though so it's not really a big problem. If one really wants to keep up with current advances in cultivation, it is necessary to scan at least 3 boards on a regular basis. I don't know if attracting the (often very adamantly) non-shroomery members is a solution, or if more people just need to post across the sites. Whatever, if that's our biggest problem we are doing pretty well.
Quote: How did you find the Shroomery?
I think I was born here. Maybe I didn't find the shroomery, maybe it found me?
Quote: Have you ever thought about leaving the Shroomery? Why? (You may choose as many as you wish)
I chose all the selections except "never thought of leaving". not as interested in shrooms; Anybody whose interest in shrooms hasn't waxed and waned some over time hasn't been into shrooms very long, or desperately needs a few extra hobbies. didn't like the changes in the community; Anybody who hasn't longed for "the good old days" probably wasn't here for them, or they weren't around for the good days at one of the numerous other shroom sites that have existed in the last few years. I have been personally seduced by several other sites at various times, largely due to "community vibe", not so much recently but during periods of nastiness I'll make someplace else my home for a while. This is where strong bug judicious moderation makes all the difference. I've also regularly just been more interested in what people are doing elsewhere. In the end though, I always come back, probably due to the sheer volume of posters here as much as anything. Time; I think very many people have probably "wasted" far more hours on here than we would like to admit to norms in the meat world. trouble/risk/paranoia; Anybody who doesn't realize that participating in conversations at sites like this poses a security risk (no matter how small) has probably never really thought about security at all. Now, I'm obviously still here after all of those incidents, whatever thats worth.
Quote: Would you like to see us actively try and recruit more members (i.e. advertise)?
I chose "not just anybody" and I probably mean that more strongly than most. I think the only people that need to be recruited are experienced cultivators/hunters/mycologists rather they be active on other boards or new to the OMC. The newbs will find us if they need us. We can always use more quality content and discourse. That in itself will bring newbs who are looking for such things. And so far as the general public, who cares about attracting non-shroom people? I've certainly found experts in various other fields than shrooms here, but there were here because of the shroom interest. If we just want to have quality non-shroomers, why don't we just 86 the website altogether and start a talk show?
Quote: Please rate the Shroomery.
One of my favorites. As I mentioned before though, without checking other sites such as mycotopia and thenook (those are just my favorite others) then lotsa good shroom info, especially cultivation info and cultivator info is missed out on. So it's only one of my fav's. Also, for the non-shroom stuf I definitely go to other sites. IMO politics are best discussed off-line, but if you feel the need it is only productive if done among like minded folk. Damn, I was going to list all the forums and give similar thoughts, but I forgot how many there are now. Oh well, lets just say i'll check about a dozen other resources if I really was looking for info on science and technology.
Quote: If you could offer the administrators some advice, what would it be?
Absolutely "keep up the good work". You guys do a largely thankless and tedius job, and we appreciate it even if you don't see it.

PM me with any cultivation questions.
I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
