PF Substrate - ok to use Peat Moss?

I was told I could use sphagnum peat moss in place of vermiculite for th pf substrate method. Is this correct? I appreciate the help.

I wouldn't do it. The purpose of the vermiculite is to provide an airy substrate with many microscopic pockets of air. Peat moss is much more dense than vermiculite and would most likely result in a very compacted substrate that would not be able to breath. Just buy some vermiculite, it's like $5 for 5lbs, which should last you a long time.
