agar question * 1

I just received some agar in the mail and want to start using it this week. My question is, do i just mix the agar powder with water, steralize and pour, or do i have to add some kind of food source to the agar as well. I am asking because i have read that the agar is just used for gelling, but i was not sure if it contained some kind of nitritional source.

Agar needs a food source. Dog food, malt extract, flour, molasses, potato soup, honey, corn meal, green beans liquified in a blender, punkin pie filling... a lot of things will work. Check the archives for a simple recipe or invent your own.
