i am trying to grow amazonians and they colonized extremely well for the first two weeks and after that slowed to almost no growth during the third week. now it is going on the fifth week and there is no signs of contamination! what is going on? they are a brf/verm mix with some flax thrown in in 1pint jars. the temp is a low 70-75 degrees but hmidity is at 75-80% could i heat my terrarium with a 4o watt light bulb cause ive seen heat lights for terrariums at the pet store and they are a bit pricey. this is my only option for supplying heat right now. i am thinking of just forcing them into fruiting without 100% colonization will this produce shrooms stil. i am very confused and very frustrated please help! i could really use it . also any suggestions for a quicker colonizing substrate would be appreciated. thanx so much!

Couple ideas from dude:
Raise temp to 85 or so deg. F
Have you removed the tape and flipped your jars over? If not... do so now!

I shove my boxes on top of the fridge, then i stick a thermometer on the boxes... Have an 85% temp from just luck I guess :)

Stoner:
Your mycelium is most likely stalling due to CO2 build up. I would reccomend what Olgualion said about removing the tape/tinfoil and flipping the jars over.

I had heard of a guy who had used a small hepa filtered vacuum to suck out all the co2 and replace it with oxygen.
I was thinking of taking my taped jars and using a sterilized fish tank pump to blow air into the jars. I would of course do this in a sealed glovebox, think that would work?
