cap eaten by bugs
    #4567354 - 08/22/05 05:30 PM (18 years, 5 months ago)

i went to check my outdoor patches today and had a few caps that looked like they had pests.. if i cleaned off these shrooms and dried them, would they still be good or not? i wouldn't eat an apple if it had signs that pests were there, would it be the same for mushies? i mean will i get sick or anything?

Yeah. As long as you can cut a few up without seeing those nasty little fungus gnat maggots, your ok.Just cut the bad parts off before/after you dry them.

certain bugs do carry diseases, ticks carry lyme disease, mosquitos carry malaria, etc...but many bugs are a good source of protein. some cultures eat many kinds of bugs and i would probably eat them. do you know what kind of bugs they are?

on a humorous note...

the real question is; were there a buncha bugs lying around the base of those shrooms laughing their asses off?
