Aight, well I jus got back from my trip from Idaho. And I check my pathc and find a dozen withered ones in Allen Strain patch that've prolly been there for a couple days but the Plantasia has yet to fruit. SOOOOOooo I'm out there with a flashlight and there's a fuckload of these little bugs/mites/i don't fucking know incects crawling all over the patch.

Has anyone had any success getting these little fuckers out my patch?

Do they look like tiny blck lady bugs?Snails and slugs seem to be the tougher enemy.If u have these small beetles and mites it's 'cause of the placement.Those bastards don't come around in a place that gets lot's of air flow.It's just like when ya findshrooms in apastuer.The shrooms in the field are usualy a little dry but the shrooms in the wooded area of the field have lots of mite,slugs,snails,beetles and fuck shit like that.Probs with slugs and snails let me know I can help the other......get a better spot.

i always spread a heavy ring of diatomaceous earth around my patch. bugs on the ground don't make past that. slugs don't like it either. however, flying bugs can still fly right over and land directly on your caps to munch.

Ah, I'll just go with the cup of beer buried in the ground so that the top of the cup is level with the ground. Works great for weed, so I'd think it'd help fight off shroom predators.

are u sure they are causing harm to your patch?
cuz insects are part of nature.. its kinda hard to get rid of every little bug....
shit my patch has all kinds of little bugs and mites runninga round, but they dont seem to be bothering it... the mushrooms are growing just fine...
if they are eating holes in your mushrooms i would worry.... otherwise, who cares...

But yea now that I think of it, the bugs that're crawling all around my patch aren't really doing anything. But I havn't been around when there's been fresh caps to see the activity.

I bought some Boric Acid today tho, I see if it's really necessary.

They're like miniature roaches that have a tail that looks like claws. I forget their name but ya always find em digging through dirt. <---A FUCKLOAD OF BABIES ONES and a couple grown ones but shit they're all over my patch.

What ya could do is ... Get some hot fresh peppers, like HOT HOT HOT peppers and crush em up real good. Sprinkle those around your patch. You can also make a mix of 1 part tabasco sauce to 2 parts water and spray or pour that all around your patch. Most insects are very sensative to hot stuff. It burns their feet from what I'm told. It works for MJ.

I got rollie pollies in my allen patch. Every night at dark like every rollie pollie in my yard flocks to my patch. They seem to just crawl around and dont mess it up. The slugs have been around in it so I bought some slug pellets and sprinkeled them around the patch. Just go out there with a flashlight and look for snails/slugs. Then kill every bug you see by hand

Hmm i had to open my big fat mouth, just yetserday i said i had bugs all over my patch and everything was fine,
well today i check up on my mushies and 4 out of 5 of them had bites taken out of them...
they were pretty big chunks too...
im thinking it was a bird or a squirrel, but i guess it could be bugs too...
well i picked the bitten ones, and left the rest....
hopefully if it was a bird or a squirrel they wont come back for more...

Sorry mate but the little mites are hard to fight. That's why the pros spend all that money on grow houses with protective ventalation systems, well one of the reasons.
My brother was growing oyster mushrooms as a side business last year and that's what took his grow house down. He has a tremendous 1st flush then the mites came out. If you go to the contam FAQ there's a link to a university that studies all that stuff but to fight the mites the focus is prevention. Not much to do after infestation.

Man, is that really what i have to do to keep these bugs at bay?
i woke up today and checked up on my mushrooms and i found one semiburied with cap open.... i went ahead and picked it, and i found a little hole eaten clean through it..... WTF this is probably the 5th mushrrom ive picked from this patch and ALL of them have had chunks taken out of them... the bugs never eat more than one hole or chunk... so i guess they are being somewhat respectful... but still.... i want whole mushrooms Not mushrooms wiht HOLES.....

you could try this: Take some tabacco (best unbleached something like rolling tabacco) en put in some water and let stand overnight. Put it in your plantduster en spray the shit out of em. The tabacoo bites in all their tiny holes and eyes but at the sametime be food for the mycelium. Tried it and they loved it good luck

Me too man. I had like a 13 shroom 1st flush and every one had a little peice out of it. The onl7y time is when the temp dropped and it rained a few popped up before the bugs got to them

man im gonna try the tobacco thing tonight, tho i feel like its too late for this outdoor patch :frown:
i went out today to check up on it and i found the little bastards have been eating the pins before they get a chance to surface.....
(i removed a little bit of dirt to check up on the pins that were there, and they were all GONE)
the little fuckers have crossed the line!!!!
eating holes in mature shrooms is one thing..
but to eat my fuckin PINS!!!
have they no HONOR!!!!
well i guess its time to get dirty....

my friend has an outdoor patch.. He is not sure of the culprit here , but something is eating his shrooms.. he has a bucket on top too so its something coming through the ground and mostly eating half a cap and then leaving.. Lately the lil Fucker's have been eating the whole thing from the ground up... he just see's a damn stump.. think DE would work with this problem?
