Pan Subbs!?
    #4547659 - 08/17/05 05:21 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

It rained yesterday in the pacific north west (WA), and sprouted up what i think to be pan subbs.

* found at mall parking lot in nice green grass
* gills look back with some splotches of gray
* stems about 2 inches. pretty robust, color is creme white
* cap is inch in diameter, sombrero looking, soft texture
* spore print pending but by the looks of the gills, black
* no apparent brusing yet
* mushroomy scent

gills flash

no flash

i hope i found them, it would be my first active find. although i don't think 3 pan subbs would allow me to trip, or would they?

Could you get a better closeup image of the stems?

If the stems have strain verticle line grooves, oyu have foes.
If they twist, you have subbs.

They sure resemble subbs but I havn't ever seen the margin so upturned like that before. Since you don't have enough anyway I would consider it a learning experience. The more times you collect em the more familiar you will get with em.

Like a few have said, get a closeup shot of those stems.  I just got done tripping of some subbs earlier today, was a nice mild trip with some liquidy walls and sidewalks :wink:.  I took about 20 mid to small sized subbs and still had a mild trip.  That probably won't be enough. I would hold out on eating em, for safety's sake.
