LYNCH CULT THREAD

I was just reading deadmaker's quotes in another thread and thought; with all the shroomerites that apprecicate good and weird-fuck cinema, there has to be a David Lynch appreciation thread. So I'm starting one with intent of it lasting a few hours at least.
Please discuss! What movies do you own, which you like, quotes, why lynch is da man.
To start, I haven't seen Lost Highway. Can someone give me a unrevealing synopsis.

Wierdness. Lots of it.
My favorite Lynch movie is Blue Velvet, but the only one I own is Mulholland Dr. Sometimes I think he just is wierd for wierdness sake (like with Mulholland Dr.), but there is no denying the man's genius.

NO you CANT give a good synopsis of a david lynch film.
lynch is hit or miss for me, mullhollond drive was cool and twin peaks. ive never seen firewalk with me, though it sounds pretty fucking cool.

Mulholland Drive is a very good movie, I've actually got it on DVD.

I've seen Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Molholhand Drive, and Wild at Heart. All these movies I sincerely love, so I haven't seen a lynch film I didn't like.

yeah its basically a regular movie, but it just doesnt make any sense...
mullholland drive uses some wierd ideas and "cinema flipping" but i just dont understand lost highway so much.
it was also the first david lynch movie id seen, and his movies are much wierder than twin peaks.
in short: i dont get lost highway.

Well, I guess I know what you mean. Eraserhead has no plot and I kinda think it is weird for the sake of weirdness; a thing I don't mind. However, I think Molohaland Drives has significantly more structure to it than these such movies.

I usually feel that way the first few times I see one of his movies. There is always the memorable quote from the audience after the movie, "What the Fuck."
But that quote is synonomis with lynches work. I have to wonder how much blotter lynch ate in his days.

it is the most fucked piece of Lynch work I have ever seen, just under 4 minutes long starring his daughter I think.
it is painful to watch

that sounds like every david lynch movie ever made. the guy makes movies that make no sense and people call him brilliant for it.

lost highway tells the story of a killer with multiple personalities from the point of view of each personality.

I guess brilliance is subjective.
I can make sense out of Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, and Twin Peaks. Casil's right: I haven't seen it in years, but only remember thinking that The Lost Highway was pure non-sense. I've never seen his other works.
It's definitely not for everyone though. Much like how the Beatles, My Chemical Romance, and John Wayne movies aren't for everyone; only for people who like that stuff.

Thanks, muse_sick. I'll re-rent it and see if I understand it now. I think I first saw this movie when I was 15 or so, and even though I thought I was a genius back then, I was probably really dumb.
